Arcane Unforging

Hello, everybody.

I recently played a game against a local Dark Elf player and I used Arcane Unforging on his Sorceress. It was only after I told him what the spell does that I realized that his Sorceress had no armour save to begin with , so I thought that I had just wasted magic dice . Since I couldn't wound the Sorceress with it, I thought that the spell would therefore be unable to have any effect on her magic items.

Was I right to believe that Arcane Unforging would have no effect, or would my opponent still have had to reveal her magic items, regardless of whether or not she had an armour save?
