RE: Troll/Giant Slayers and attack distribution
Hi All,
Was just having a discussion with a mate on slayers, and had a thought which raised the question...
How do we distribute attacks onto a unit of slayers with mixed troll/giant slayers?
Here's the situation:
20 Swordmasters (full command)
Vs.
20 Slayers (muso, banner, 3x giant slayers)
Now, SM have 21 attacks. Can only the models in base contact with the muso and banner attack troll slayers?
If attacking the giant slayers, do attacks have to be distributed against each model (ie: 3 on bozo1, 3 on bozo2, 5 on bozo3, and rest on unit), or do you say "11 on giant slayers and 10 on troll slayers" and have the wounds roll over like normal on both troll and giant slayers?
Cheers, team!

Re: RE: Troll/Giant Slayers and attack distribution
Simply put, you can only attack the models you are in base contact with.
So only 5 Swordmasters would be in contact with the three Giant Slayers, providing that they are in a group of three.
16 Attacks could be allocated to the Giant Slayers (3 from champ, 2 each from the 4 other Swordmasters in base contact then 5 supporting attacks), but you would need to allocate to each one individually seeing as they are champions.
Also, no wounds would be rolled over from the Giant Slayers to the remainder of the unit, and vice versa, p 93.

Umm, Giant Slayers are regular champions now, you can only have one per unit.
Re: RE: Troll/Giant Slayers and attack distribution
All five models in the swordmasters unit will be touching base with a giant slayer, provided they are both 4x5. so every one of the 21 attacks can be directed at a giant slayer.Asurion Whitestar wrote:Simply put, you can only attack the models you are in base contact with.

I wasn't referring to them rolling over onto the rest of the unit. I was referring to them rolling over onto other giant slayers in the unit. Also, no wounds would be rolled over from the Giant Slayers to the remainder of the unit, and vice versa, p 93.

From memory, it says "any number of troll slayers can be upgraded to giant slayers for 12 points" or something like that. Unless I'm mistaken?Dalamar wrote:Umm, Giant Slayers are regular champions now, you can only have one per unit.

Any number of Slayers in the unit may be upgraded to Giant Slayers.
Yes sorry NexS, all 21 Attacks, for some unknown reason I was thinking only 1 rank of supporting attacks.
As per Rollover Wounds, yeah I was meaning to define them all as separate for attacks, including each champion.

What a fantastic way to waste potential wounds.... Damn. that just makes them a pain in the proverbial behind to fight against - not because they're hard to fight, but it's taxing on the brain
Thanks, AW. much obliged.

Does this mean that giant slayers are unit champions, with the difference that you can have multiple in a single unit?pk-ng wrote:You are correct.NexS wrote:From memory, it says "any number of troll slayers can be upgraded to giant slayers for 12 points" or something like that. Because in that case, you can aim all your attacks at the unit (except for those models only in B2B with the giant slayers) and wounds start carrying over from the unit onto the giant slayer as soon as all normal R&F models are dead. Don't know if they giant slayers are multiwound models, but if they are then they are carried over in such a way that first a complete model dies (starting with a wounded model if available) and then wounds start going to the next one until that is completely dead. And so on.
Of course, the reverse doesn't work. Wounds inflicted on a champ do not overflow onto the unit.

That's a good point, Rod! I like it, and never thought of it in that way. Cheers!
