BOTWD vs Banner of the Under-Empire

#1 Post by aquietfrog »

Had this come up in a recent game.

Fluff-wise, the banner of the under empire just makes a bunch of rats scurry along with the unit making 2D6 strength 2 attacks so I don't think it should be magical.

However, it's an effect of a magic standard, so does it count as magical attacks?

See the BRB FAQ. All attacks made by magic items are magical.

Well you won't forget it again in a hurry! Don't worry, the same has happened to all of us in the past.

And anyway, be glad those plague monks had this banner and not the plague banner... One round re rolls on To Hit and To Wound can be pretty nasty when you have little defence like Swordmasters (and it's a fight I often face, believe me! ).
Remember also that only one unit of Plague Monks in the army is allowed a magical banner (check the Skaven army book, plague monks under the army list section). You can't face both banners on two such units!
