I doubt that when transformed to a dragon you can use your magic sword . However when you transform back I guess you could.

How are people playing monstrous mounts? Since the majority take up hero slots, are they counting them as heros or part of the lord alotment?

Majority? Huh? Only Dragons and a Master's Manticore take hero slots, nothing else except very old special char take any extra slots...
Also slots are gone, Dragons are not Heroes, they just used to take a slot there.

Anyway, Lord's mount = Lord points. Star Dragon = Lord points.
Noble on Eagle = Hero points
Prince on Eagle = Lord points

Might I suggest that there is an 8th edition rules questions new topic started - I think it would be helpful to keep the two types of questions separate.
