My prince on foot in an army based around beasts lore was halberd, AoD, DB gem, ring of fury and reaver bow. 7x S-8 with the halberd and S-8 with the reaver bow as well when under the influence of savage beasts. Mostly didn't work but the theory was good!
These days its an anointed with armour of silvered steel and dawnstone.

Why take silvered steel when enchanted shield is just one point worse but a lot cheaper?

I would be going something like:
Shield of the merwyrm, heavy armour. Maybe the blade of leaping gold mixed with heavens magic for wound rerolls of 1(for the chance of more unarmourable hits) then perhaps the other trickster's shard.
But if I'm going on foot, I generally make use of the anointed

without reading the post you're referring to, perhaps to use a halberd or great weapon?Curu Olannon wrote: Why take silvered steel when enchanted shield is just one point worse but a lot cheaper?

Giant Blade is by far superior on the Anointed though. With the innate 4++ you can afford to take the Dawnstone as well, giving him 3+/3+/4++ with S7

Yeah Curu, I like it!
I have had success with the wayshard on an anointed, brought 30 spears in from the side and steamrolled though some skevens!
I'm deviating from the OP though - i apologise
