I'm looking for your thoughts on core setup.
Would you take 15 archers with musician or 2 units of 5 Reavers with bows?
Currently for 2200 points I run:
9 Silver Helms, musician, standard
5 Reavers, bows
5 Reavers, bows
15 Archers, musician
I'm thinking of dropping the archers in favour of 2 more units of Reavers:
Pros:
Improved mobility, more redirectors, war machine hunters, etc
Can avoid being charged and stay in close range for shooting
Cons:
Less durable, will die faster to bowfire and magic missiles, vulnerable to enemy fast cavalry
Bowfire is less effective
Dilutes effectiveness of Hand of Glory
The rest is the army is:
15 White Lions, Standard, musician
21 Swordmasters, Standard, musician, BotWD
Archmage, High, level 4, 5++ book
Level 2, Shadow, Dispel Scroll
BSB, mounted, Dragon armour, lance, Enchanted Shield
Frostheart
2 RBT
Eagle
5 Shadow Warriors
I'm going from memory so I might not have everything perfect. I'm mostly interested in the core because I might be swapping the infantry/character choices around soon, but it will be easier to make suggestions on core knowing what I have in the rest of the list.
My meta is competitive, quite a few of the guys in my LGS travel around Canada and the US for tournaments.
I'm leaning towards keeping the archers because
a) they provide protection for my RBT
b) with Hand of Glory provide enough of a threat to my opponents light units that he has to send something at them to save his chaff or risk losing board control. Hand of Glory on them seems to always suck up dispel dice too.
c) If I lose my chaff I can still kill his chaff and avoid being outmanoeuvred
d) I like that asthetic of a more balanced list
e) Dark Elves are becoming more and more common and 15 Archers and 2 RBT is a serious enough threat to them that they will advance to deal with it.

as your army are now i take one of this:
make your 15 man acher unit bigger (30 with musian and banner)
or
gett more shadow warriors. all in one unit if you whant them too help you shooting or 2/3 units just too hit and run/hunting warmachines
have fun

An Archer unit is still a nice place for your Level 2 to hide, since he doesn't necessarily want to be toeing the line in combat. I assume you plan to run the Level 4 alongside the lions or Swordmasters?

You are correct, the level 4 runs with the Swordmasters to give them a ward save.

I would go with the archers.
As with all units (and types of units), reavers suffer from diminishing returns. 2 units is great, adding 2 extra units less so. Especially with an eagle and a unit of SW in your army list (which can perform a similar role). 4 units of chaff / redirectors should be sufficient. And archers are better at shooting and thus clearing chaff from a distance.
