Thoughts on beating this 500 pt. Beastmen army

#1 Post by Gildor777 »

I am going to be playing a Beastmen army next week. I know basically what he will bring, as it should be identical to the list he used this week against another player. He brought:

Wargor
5 hounds
3 minatuars w/Chaos armor
3 Chariots

Everything that could (everything?) had chaos undivided giving him rerolls on psych. tests. This is 500 points.

I am really torn as to what to bring. I have everything available, so the options are open. Thoughts?

Dragonmage, lv 2
10 spearmen (naked)

Not sure about the exact point cost (don't have my book with me), but this should come in just below 500pts. If you have points left over, go for either the item that gives you + 1 spell or the ring of fury on the dragon mage.

I think it could work, The dragon should be powerfull at this point level. He seems to have no magic defence, so fly around him, cast / breath him to bits and pick your combats. And I would love to try it (once I get a dragon).

Dragon Mages are exceptionally fun to use!

395 Dragon mage, L2, Silver wand
90 10x Spearelevs

Now you can go for sword of might or +1 spear and musician in the spearelves ;) .

Do not try to achieve anything with your small unit. They are nice tablequarter or try to flank a chariot.

I honestly was thinking something along these lines. The only thing that worries me is the chaos undivided, which means he probably isn't going to fail many terror/fear tests. If I am setting up the dragon mage, would you rather take a level 1 with silver wand and reaver bow, or level 2 with silver wand? The reaver bow could do some serious damage to the minatuars and chariots, but is it worth losing the one spell and the ability to cast with 3 dice?

I'm not sure what rules you are using, but there used to be rule that you could only bring one chariot.

That said, it's one of the reasons that I hate low point games of Warhammer, it just isn't balanced for it.

2 eagles
1+ rerolling save general,
10 archers
5 princes, warbanner.

that'll beat it if you play it right.
