5 Reavers or Tir. Chariot in small games

#1 Post by Gildor777 »

I am going to be playing a few games at the 500 pt. level soon. At that point, would you prefer a tiranoc chariot or 5 reavers with spears? (same point cost) I am leaning to the Reavers for the extra wounds and the rank denying, but I really like the punch of the chariot. I know it depends to some extent on the rest of the army, but any base reactions?

It's the impact hits that make the difference, because on the charge you have the same range.

Chariot. Better toughness, better damage output, higher strength and they won't panic a nearby unit if they die.

wasnt there a rule somewhere that was along the lines of fast cav. not being able to deny ranks?

but anyway, at 500 points, impact hits are nice.

That was merely a rumor.

I too would prefer the chariot, but then again I'd say I'm quite biased towards them.

Chariots have always been terrain dependent. I think the fairly modern example is that of a Jagdpanzer, though a Jagdpanzer does have more protection.

Reavers would be a bunch of Humvees.

It depends on the role you want. If you want to play defensively Chariots are the way to go. But Ellyrian can march block, do warmachine hunting and are much faster and agile.

Thanks for the thoughts. If I have an attacking list, it will contain an eagle for the marchblocking role. I am looking at a few lists. This will be an escalation type league, but we are allowed to change our list each week. So part of this will depend on who I play.

Cavalry attack:
Eagle
10 Spears
5 Dragon Princes
Tir. Chariot
Noble w/Lance, Ench. Shield, Dragon Armor, BESt

Infantry Attack:
Eagle,
14 spears w/ FC
Tir Chariot
6 WL/SM
Noble w/GW, Armor of Caledor

Defense:
11 LSG w/ Sh. and Champion
RBT
7 WL
Noble w/Reaver Bow and Ench. Sh

In all of those builds, the Tir. Ch. could be taken out for 5 Reavers with Spears. Of course, I could always just go for the Sun Dragon and a minimum number of spears build and just avoid the whole debate....
