Null Talisman VS dwarves...

#1 Post by Drakova »

So I had to play a dwarf player who bring this set up.

BSB /w +CR and stroll azz rune
ANVIL
THANE of pain

longbeards
warriors or iron breakers
hammerers /w shields
miners
quallerers
some other stuff

His list is really solidt, being able to get in to close combat quickly for dwarves is great and miners to harass war machines. His center 3 units are rock solid. With tons of CR magic items and moderate damage comming back from his characters, they are hard to crack. Reroll physch from long beards reroll break from BSB.

So i just realized a nice time to use the Null Talisman was when fighting slow moving dwarves.

I tried this item out and it was the most succesful thing i've every used against dwarves. It gobbled up all his magic weapon runes and + CR and even toke away that annoying banner that makes him out number everything so he is semi immune to fear.

His slow moving dwarves couldn't get out of the Null Talisman's way, even after i revealed the item it was too late.

I am thinking the null talisman in a fast moving mostly cav army could be great too, or with a general in the middle of a semi large (15+) pheonix gaurd unit, where you use the unit champion to tank with his built in ward save. and the lord to attack the regulars.

Anyone else have succes with this item? Best 100 points i've ever used, was key factor in breaking 3 large units.

The value of the Null Talisman is the surprise factor.

In the case of the Dwarves, if he knows your Prince is carrying it, he'll shoot him full of holes, and since even if the Prince had enough points left over for magical protection, it wouldn't have functioned anyway.

I'd suggest waiting for a few games before using it again.

But this did not surprise them, for as it is written in the Great Elven Book of Knowing: Isn't life just one bloody thing after another.

Perhaps we've found a use for silverhelms. Stick your mounted prince in a biggish unit of silver helms to weather to thunderers, cannons, etc. etc., hope you don't fail a "Look out, sir!" roll, and run that null stone right up next to his infantry blocks.

Hey... it could work...
