Hello everyone

So I mentioned i would start a thread on my army as soon as I got it on and here it is.
I got to my house yesterday and the package was already here )I live and work on different cities, so it's always a slow thing to notice when stuff arrives :p )

It's a lot of stuff and almost all of it is badly painted XD (as second hand stuff usually is I suppose)
So I guess i'll just strip the paint from them and work on the 5 elyrian reavers and 1 repeater bow w crew that are unpainted on the meantime.
I'll upload pics of the army as soon as they have their green bath.

Hey mate.
I blame Gloryhammer and their songs XD

I am actually thinking on painting my elves as a host of a kingdom of my own, outside of the warhammer lore but i'm still thinking about how to call it. On the meantime it will be called Dundee.

Btw, I spent most of yesterday restoring some of the minis and took this pic when i finished, now i only need to strip the paint from them (because that white is sooooo thick it seems like enamel...)



The rest of the army (characters, chariots, a ballista and the monsters) are in a bath of degreaser but I worked a bit on them this morning with a tooth brush and that white is really really tough.

I'll post more updates as soon as I can get more stuff done

Most of the special units are on old pewter so there is quite a size difference compared with the plastic minis.


As for advances, today I worked a bit on trying to clean the paint of the monsters, chariots, one bolt thrower and characters but it's been hard. I don't know how else to clean them as I usually rely on this degreaser (heavy duty) and it has never failed me until now...

For the metals I'd recommend acetone. For the plastics, if your usual degreaser doesn't work you might have to go with something harsh like break fluid.

It is quite a long project but I guess it can be done step by step.

Last night, I took one of the bolt thrower gunners and tried to paint something but I ended up going with a Chinese-like theme instead of the original Irish-Scottish one.

Here are some pics:




I didn't like that much the decorations on the clothing but it was what i could do at the moment, I'm looking forward to paint the rest of the bolt thrower with this scheme and see what happens.

Any ideas on how to base them? i'm always at a loss when trying to decorate bases...

PS - As for basing, not sure myself but something contrasting your main colour scheme is the way to go.

That is an awesome compliment

I was thinking to do something earthly to the bases, like reddish dirt or a road in an autumn forest but idk
Or maybe go with the traditional light brown earth and green grass.

I really like the Chinese vibe you have going. It works very well.

As for the bases, green grass and dirt is the most flexible and it's very unobtrusive. People won't really notice it. But it's also a bit boring perhaps. Autumn forest could work very well. It perhaps also depends a bit on how much effort you want to put into them.

Love the rather unique approach, and the freehand is amazing! If you can keep that up for the whole host, your army's going to look very stunning indeed!

As for the bases, that really depends. Like Prince of Spires said, the dirt and grass approach works in most cases, but I think your army would look really good with a bit of a reddish autumn forest look. I'm looking forward to seeing whatever you go with though, keep up the inspiring work!

I've been looking at this colour scheme and I think i'll change the black for white to brighten them up a bit, as they look more like humans instead of elves in this dark scheme. That may also work better with the traditional way of basing as time is of the essence if I want to have an army painted sometime this century XD

Also, some updates.
I finished stripping, glueing and fixing the command part of the minis as well as the monsters, chariots and the other bolt thrower.
They are drying now that i've primed them. I might upload some pics of them tomorrow.
On the stripping bucket i put some horsies with their riders, the plastic lions, plastic 2handed sword guys and plastic sea guard but that white the previous owner used to prime the minis is really really tough!

oh well, on the mean time look at these bounty hunters for necromunda i finished painting last night;

I thought they might look better if i did some random shades on them before highlighting. Hopefully they look nice.

Hello guys, I just came back to my home from home and i have a small update :p

I just finished stripping most of the plastic elves, but definitely that white the old owner used to prime the miniatures is really tough!

the good news is that I can prime and paint them now as the only thing left to strip are the metal minis (which are considerably easier to work with).

But a friend pointed out something to me: "how are you going to transport all those delicate miniatures, specially the metal ones, when you paint them since you live on another city?"

My High Elf army is about 75% converted (mostly by necessity) so I’m familiar with this problem Nusphigor. Bits fall off!

i'll have to invest in some miniature cases because i don't want to get these elves damaged (the grots on the other hand can stand a hit of a truck XD)

Liking the colour scheme, I briefly toyed with a goblin green colour scheme when I first started my elves way back when.
