Well Met Azur. Long time lurker, but I thought I'd finally start up a project page here to find like minded folk.
So here's my story.
In my early teens my mum bought my brother and I the 6th edition starter set. I painted up all the orks to the best of my no existent abilities, and my dear mother wanting to reward my enthusiasm went out and bought me a High Elf Army.
This one
I then struggled to paint cleanly and toiled my young self to frustration. I was so unsatisfied by my efforts I stopped painting or playing for a long while. Eventually 40k and D&D pulled me back in. The Azur stayed in the back of my mind. A white spot of shame on my hobbying life.
Fast forward to adulthood: As some form of 1/3 life crisis I've decided that my High Elves must be painted to a standard that satisfies me or else I will never feel complete as a hobbyist.
Here's how it's going so far:
I stripped all of my old minis and some ebay rescues. I found the lovely Elfhead3d on Etsy and ordered heads and shields to replace the ridiculously proportioned Spearelves heads and painted up some Spearelves.
Working on 20 more Spears which are nearly done.
And after that, Silver Helms.
I've always disliked the 6th ed models for Silver Helms. Awkward looking. I am hoping the Elfhead3d head swap will tamp the wonkiness down a bit.
I'll post more once they have some paint on them.
Cheers,
Andy

Wow excellent work so far, I really like the replacement heads for the spearmen. The shields are really nicely painted. Looking forward to more updates!
Good luck with your project.

Hi Andy,
Welcome to Ulthuan. You definitely started with a loud bang!
No matter what difficulties your younger self had, you have overcome them. Your miniatures are cleanly painted and beautiful.
Best of luck for the continuation of your project, it would be nice at some point to see your skills applied to some of the more attention grabbing pieces.
Also thanks for the Etsy link. I was not aware of it and the options there seem to be of excellent quality and incredibly affordable price.
