I'm an 80's kid, I remember G.I Joe.
minor update, some simple highlighting on the normal guys, more on the Oniwaban.
Gave him a blue wash and then went back over him with Ulthuan Grey, I'm liking how it's coming out.

I was born in the 80's and grew up in the 90's. I watched things like Samurai Pizza Cats and Biker Mice from Mars. Also Widget the World Watcher and Where's Wally. Ah, the memoriesElessehta of Yvresse wrote:I'm an 80's kid, I remember G.I Joe.
I'm really keen to see the white one with some more colours! I like the baggy cloth and pleated effects, really makes it fun with washes

Re: In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.
Hobby update!
I can't play my Germans until they're at least base coated, but there are so many of them!
At least half a dozen guys at club are rocking airbrushes now, and highly recommended getting into it.
One of the core group runs the Hobby section of Toyworld down the coast and gives club members a discount, so I picked up this stuff for less than $400.
That's a Runway 13 AB-134BKX Deluxe Airbrush Set, with a 1/6hp Airbrush Compressor, and a cleaning pot. I look forward to playing with it.

have fun playing with that. I know I do. My beginner tips would be:
thin your paints A LOT (or start with real airbrush paints to get a feel for how thin they need to be). It needs to be a lot thinner then with normal painting.
keep cleaning the airbrush (also, or perhaps especially, the small, fiddly bits). I think the first few tries I spent as much time cleaning the AB as I did painting with it. You'll notice the painting going less well when it's time to clean.

Thanks Rod, the guys at club drilled me on thinning, and told me I would spend a ton of time cleaning.

I'd like to say they're getting cheaper, but I don't think they are, I'm not entirely sure why they're becoming more prevalent. My excuse was my Flames of War, I really wasn't looking forward to priming, and base coating all those models, and doing the camo on the tanks too.

Let's be honest Ele - it's because us High Rollers in Ozland just earn so much coin. I mean that's why GW charge us those prices right???

Waiting for my Maiden Guard so I can start my Phoenix Guard, so I've been working on my Skirmish game stuff.
I added some more Orange to my Infinity JSA, no new picture yet though, I seem to have misplaced my pot of Ulthuan Grey.
I really love that colour, can't believe it's gone. My Mordheim warband stalled a bit but I gave my Shadow Master a new head.
I really need to finish them off...
and last but not least, working on my Guild Faction for Malifaux, we're doing a tournament soon and I want to get some paint on my crew!
Primed thanks to the airbrush

Yea keeping most of my old metals, I do need to get the new Kirai when it comes out though, only because I love the new Iki model, I'll keep my metal Kirai.

Re: In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.
Ironically when i painted my Lady J i gave her a white jump suit ala storm shadow. The new marshal models are crazy but scale is all over the place. Each casket could literally fit a troll.

Re: In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.
I saw the new set at club last meet. Not a fan of the new Lady J, here breasts aren't big enough. I have both the old metal ones, but not the avatar, and like them both better than the new one. I might have to paint the other one up different.

Re: In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.
Thanks Brad, need to get the rest painted before the tournament, also need to finish my Mordheim warband, oh speaking of that:
Letters from Mordheim:
My Prince of the Shadows,
Our search for our dark brethren in the cursed city of Mordeim has started. They, like the rest of these degenerates, will be drawn here by the broken meteorite. It's a great location for a trap.
News from the first day of scouting; There was a lot of commotion when we entered the ruined city, it's not as deserted as we were led to believe.
We entered through the secret gate on the map you gave us, and immediately we took cover in a primitive religious site. On the right some Dawi seemed to be continuing their war with the Skaven menace, we did not interfere.
A band of Possessed humans were coaxing a young male to join their cult, he seemed overly drunk, or maybe drugged. They seemed to be working with a Vampire, the stench on undead was heavy around them. Seeking some local intelligence, we thought it best to rescue him. Shots were fired and swords drawn, the Master you put in charge took a wound, nothing serious, but he now has the look of doubt about him, hopefully he'll shake it off eventually. One of the young Shadow Warriors also got hurt, but nothing more than bruises, as a crazed human pushed him down. We did succeeded in freeing the young man from the cult, but he ran into the arms of a foreigner. The look was familiar, from the far east I think. Maybe we can negotiate with them, we'll observe them for now and see if they can be trusted.
Faithfully, your eyes in Mordheim.

Warband Name: The Solarhanagarthii

Re: In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.
I have a Bolt Action event coming up, and my army needs to be finished for it, so I've been working on my Rats.
Assembly:
Primed and Washed:
My Team Weapons are almost ready~
That's my Vickers Medium Machine gun, just needs webbing and the gun needs detailing. My QF 2pdr Anti Tank Gun, that only requires Desert weathering on the gun, and my Medium Mortar, with Spotter, it just needs webbing and small details on the crew, and detail work on the mortar. There is one last team for me to do, that's my AT Rifle lads, they'll get done tomorrow with the details.

Re: In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.
Thanks Brad, didn't work on my Bolt Action at all today, but did assemble and convert a Tank for my Tank Ace in Flames of War.
Started life as a British Firefly VC, but for fun I added an 88 from the Germans, some exhaust pipes and a few other bits of pieces.
I like it can can't wait for Tank Aces to start up.

flames of war is 15mm scale, so tiny next to my elves, but the bolt action stuff should be similar, I'll take a picture this afternoon.

Re: In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.
I forgot to take the pic of scales, but here it is now.
That's a High Elf Sword Master from GW, A type two Infantry from DUST, a Royal Marine from Warlord, a Perry Twins Desert Rat, and a Keisotsu Butai from Infinity.
All 28mm...
I finished off the tank, this is Sir John Winston Smith in his tank Dragonfly, next to a normal British Firefly.
