This thread needs more photos, as soon as I get them or if Chris sends me progress photos I'll put them up straight away.

Apparently the new Seaguard models are incredibly detailed, he's raising his prices because they just take too long, the new ones are going to cost me more ^_^

Ah, thy Seaguard do look well my Lord. The painting and detailing is most fine and 'tis well done. The shields hath turned out well, for it is a demanding task to paint a regiment's shields freehand and make them all the same.

Yea they came out alright, not a fan of the spear elves gigantic hands or the fact that they can't all seem to hold their spears straight, thankfully when I get my real Lothern Seaguard I can hide these guys up the back. The shields came up quite nice, I can't wait to see what he does on the Silver Helms shields.

Hum...... I hath compared the older Elves with these new Seaguard for the Island of Blood and I would say that their hands and fingers are of equal size; - save that the hands of the new figures are the more naturally posed which doth make a considerable difference to their appearance.

I do agree concerning the fashion in which the multipart spear Elves do hold their weapons. When standing alongside my older regiments they do seem to be all drunk on parade.

I don't have my Seaguard yet but comparing the hands of the spear elves to the reavers or swordmasters I have there is significant difference, the new IoB models hands seem at least 1,000,000 times better.

Thats why the Hobby Gods gifted us with:
THE BLADE OF MISHAPS.

Also known as a Hobby Knife. :wink:

I dont have that problem at all, as I simple shave a little off the arms and position them straight up, all of my "Seagaurd" have a very diciplined pose and feel to them.

Cheeky bastard, atm I have the front rank kind of holding them on an angle, kind of looks like they are starting to move their spears down in defence or something.

/me sighs

No Seaguard today, I got a message last night asking me what colour the Silver Helms horses needed to be, I guess he needed a break. I chose Black for the Champion, Dark grey for the Musician and Standard Bearer and the rest of the unit in white, then I changed my mind and asking him to convert one of them into a Prince who will ride the white, and to paint the rest of the unit a lighter grey. He was glad about the change, he wasn't too keen on nine white horses. Apparently it's all the white on the Seaguard that's killing him. he went and got glasses Friday because he was having issues seeing all the details. I told him that blue robes would have fitted the theme, but he's already too far in. He's going to hate me when I give him the twenty-eight more Seaguard ^_^'

So I gave my mate the twenty-eight more Seaguard, I must say they arrived in style. Probably the best packed models I've ever received in the mail. I did take a moment to open them up and compare the unpainted model to a spear elf, I must say, I now understand why he hates them so much ^_^ He should get the twenty he has done this weekend. I think after those he's going to work on the Mages. I've been wondering how hard it would be to just remove the bows and quivers off the spear elves back and just make them spear elves again. I might ask him about it tomorrow.I told him about wanting another griffon prince done up to his display standard, he said I could buy his off him, just have to negotiate price for the model and get him to give me a quote for the work. Oh yea AsurionWhitestar wanted to know how much he charges:

Infantry=$5.00
Cavalry=$8.25
Monsters$11.00

Characters by quote.

I think it's pretty cheap considering, at least I was willing to pay. I can't say I've seen his display quality stuff but I'm pretty sure he's got a 40k unit in the local games shop on display, and his flames of War army is pretty nice. If I get more models like I hope to after the weekend I'll put more pics up. I really want to play a game now.

Hum...... I do own spear Elves that are also equipt with bows and do carry bow cases and quivers of arrows; - save that I do not think of them as Lotherns, but as core troops that are equipt with spears and bows. The shields they carry are not marked with the Sea dragon heraldry and I would not permit them this. The IOB Seaguard that I doth now possess are plain enough elite troops of their kind and could not be confused with another.
I would advise thee to repaint the shields that thy model figures do carry so they shall be plain enough a more ordinary kind of Elf warrior.

Hhmm... a good point my lady, I have 42 'real' Seaguard now and three command groups, that should be more than enough for the ship carrying my Prince's search and rescue party. Yveresse is renowned for it's highly disciplined Spearelf regiments, I should have some. I might wait until the Silver helms are done and re-do the spears shields to follow them. Actually I was reading the Army book and Yveresse is famous for it Spear Elves and 'Paladins' Do you think that means I could run some Dragon Princes as Paladins?

'Tis said that a Paladin is a warrior who doth have a righteous cause so if any do qualify to be named 'Paladin' the Dragon Princes are most worthy methinks.

yea they are as close as GW gets to true heavy cav but all the fancy dragonish armour kind of spoils it. May have to remodel some Silver Helms.

I just noticed the older Dragon Princes have less of the dragon barding, they might work better, or there is always the noble riding the barded steed, I could just buy five of them and just make them look more unique.

On another note, I should be getting twenty of my Seaguard tomorrow, and both of my mages should be undercoated, yahoo!

The first of my Seaguard.

I like that their colours are slightly different to the rest of the army, the Seaguard being from Eataine not Yveresse.

An army of which thou might be most proud my Lord. Thy Seaguard do look fair indeed and are the most beautifully painted. As for my own IOB Seaguard I do find myself too faint hearted to begin upon them as yet.

They have so much detail compared to the spear elves, I feel sorry for Chris as he has another twenty-eight to go, he has the distraction of a pair of mages the Silver Helms and another bolt thrower though =P

As much as I love the Griffon Prince I'm going to get a mounted Prince as well. My modeler is going to covert the Prince from the Griffon onto one of the Silver Helm horses. I picked up another Griffon riding Prince still on the sprue today for $20.

My converted IoB Prince so far:

I'm not happy with that shield on his back, considering maybe a bow and quiver from the Spearelves. Other than that he came out pretty good considering how much cutting was involved.
