Hi all, playing a friend of mine later this week. We're both using lists we have in mind for different tournaments and are not tailoring to play against each other.

20 Gors FC* X2
10 Ungor Raiders* X 2

5 Warhounds

3 Minotaurs X 2
6 Centigors
16 Bestigors FC, Warbanner

*One unit ambushing, for 3 total - 20 Gors, 10 Ungors, 15 Gors
High Elves:
L4 Archmage; mounted, 2 scrolls, Ring of Fury, silver wand (Lore of Death would work nicely)
Mounted BSB, dragon armor, sword of might, helm of fortune
Core
10 Archers
15 Spears, mus, banner
Special
5 Dragon Princes, FC, Amulet of Light, BoE (BSB goes here)
12 White Lions, FC, Lion Standard,
20 Phoenix Guard, FC, Banner of Sorcery, Gem of Courage
2 Lion Chariots
Rare
2 Eagles
2 RBTs
He's a very savvy player and as you can see from his list, he has a lot of deployments. He'll typically start off dropping Spawns on either flank, and by the time I'm done deploying, he's just getting into his important units.
I have magic and shooting as strengths and will need to leverage them. Problem is he has so many fast moving targets, I won't have much time—not to mention his ambushing units.
One strategy is to castle up in a corner and magic/shoot while he comes towards me. I'll have to set up terrain in such as a way as to minimize his ambushers - maybe blocking terrain on the back edge in the middle, then deploy on one side or the other?
Or I could take the fight to him, but then I won't be able to maximize shooting and magic as much.
C&C welcomed. I may end up posting a battle report (if I don't get tabled early! He's a very sharp player).

Re: 2250; HE versus Beastmen
Dont waste shots on the big scary units of gors/ungors, I'd hit his Minataurs first and hit them as hard as I could.

Chariots are a priority target as well.

Re: 2250; HE versus Beastmen
all in all his army doesn't look all that bad,
you do want to keep his lord away from chariots and characters tough
4 rerroll to hit ( most of the time) attacks at S8 tend to hurt
casteling is probably a good idea as you don't want to get swamped,
use clever placing to ban out any annoying ambushers in your deployment zone,
since they no longer skirmish they have a tough time fitting into tight spots so you can force him into either placing them without a rank bonus or in a position where they just get in his own way/don't matter.
also try to stay on one flank effectively reducing his ambush from a 4+ success to a 5+ success roll
other than that kill the minotaurs first, then the chariots, the rest is cannonfodder
don't feed anything to the minotaurs so they don't get frenzied and so can panic away ^.^
or do a double eagle move by charging with one ( giving them frenzy when they inevitably kill it) and already setting up the second one to redirect them.
they only pursuit/ overrun D6" anyway
