Mish Mosh

What do you think of this list? General idea is dish out a lot of ranged pain until close combat.

Prince - barded steed, DA, Sh, Star Lance : 226
Dragon Mage - Lvl2, Reaver Bow, Silver Wand : 435
Mage - Lvl2, steed, Jewel of Dusk, Dispel Scroll : 182

10 Archers : 110
15 Spearmen - musician (Prince will start here) : 140
15 Phoenix Guard - musician, standard, War Banner : 263
15 Swordmasters - Bladelord, Talisman of Loec : 247
5 Dragon Princes - musician, standard, Lion Standard : 205
Lion Chariot : 140
2x RBT : 200
2x GE : 100

Total Points : 2248
PD: 7 (+ up to 3 more for DM's spells) DD: 4 (+scroll)

Idea is to push flank hard with eagles, DPs, Dragon Mage, chariot with some support from SMs. Prince & Spears, PG hold center. I'm considering using the archers as temporary screen to these units. Ranged fire power from RBTs, Archers, Reaver Bow, plus fire magic. Play conservative with Dragon Mage. Have High Magic on Lvl2 who will hide for the most part to drain magic and whatever else he gets. I figure the DM is going to bring 2 or 3 heavy fire spells that will require the opponent to use dispel dice & scrolls before Lvl2 and whatever he does. Or vice versa. I'll be playing it tomorrow versus friends.

Looks solid enough. Dragon Mage is vulnerable to shooting and magic, but what the hell? As you said, you are playing versus friends. :)

Seerstaff FTW!

Bit small, I'd up them and stick in a magic standard.
RemX wrote:15 Swordmasters - Bladelord, Talisman of Loec : 247
Some kind of Fear protection needed on these I reckon.
RemX wrote:5 Dragon Princes - musician, standard, Lion Standard
Good but the infantry need this standard more IMHO.

@spellarcher -- maybe you're right about the lion standard. I'm still smarting from my DPs blowing two charge leadership tests last week against ogres. I was hoping the infantry being near my general would help them vs fear, as opposed to the DPs who will most likely be out of his range.

the command in the dragon princes + banner cost a huge 50 points, thats a lot, you could get something more consistently useful and just risk the fear tests? they are ld 9 anyway.

Or perhaps just a champion with a Gem of Courage, a champion is somewhat useful with the extra attack and with Leadership 9 gem of courage should be enough for that one, decisive charge.

Gem of Courage is a good shout as is Standard of Balance. In general I feel infantry need the banners more than the cavalry as failing tests and autobreaking is generally more terminal for them.

Yeah, I hadn't realized I was spending that much on the DPs.

Was also wondering about running the Prince on foot with the Radian Gem for the Bear's Anger/+1 Dispel Dice build. I could do that and the Seerstaff with the 50pts I save.

If the general goal is for ranged attacks until combat, it seems that sea guard would be a decent option as well.
Battle Standard Bearer. Don't leave home without it.
