Balanced DE list for soft tourny - 2k

So a bunch of people I know are having a really soft and fluffy tournament, I was thinking of taking this:

Dreadlord: Rxbow, Great Weapon, Heavy Armour, SD Cloak, Shield, Pendant of Khaeleth, Potion of Strength, Life Taker
Master: Rxbow, Great Weapon, Heavy Armour, SD Cloak, Shield, BSB, Standard of Hag Grief
Master: Rxbow, Great Weapon, Heavy Armour, SD Cloak, Shield, Ring of Hotek, Guiding Eye
Master: Rxbow, Great Weapon, Heavy Armour, SD Cloak, Shield, Null Talismen x 3

Dark Riders x 5 - Rxbows
Dark Riders x 5 - Rxbows
Dark Riders x 5 - Rxbows

Shades x 52: Great Weapons

Wow.. you have that many Shades?! That rules and I would definatly play that list for fun!!

If by shades you mean knife wounds after trying to play that list then yes, yes I do.

you need to lose a few shades for rxb's on your Dr, thats if you want to make the list at least a LITTLE competitive.

oops i didnt say, they actually do have those. I factored that in when i did their points.

Also the characters have them too.

A few things of note:
1) your lord has 2 RXBs, the lifetaker and an Rxbow.
2) i'm guessing the guiding eye is the one that makes you immune to psych? if not, take that.
3) it won't beat daemons

Its the one that lets a whole unit reroll its shooting for one turn

And they're leadership 10, its kinda good enough ;o

And correct, the lord has all of them. Got to have SOME flavour in the army right? He's a collector

No hydra? Is this to let your opponents have a good chance of beating you are does it not fit in with your extensive and well thought out fluff?

i think it shows admirable restraint that you haven't used all your specials or rares. no min-maxing here.

Out of ten, I think I would rate this one 8 in terms of fluff and maybe 5 in terms of competitiveness. It's tight in points, but it really needs some more shades to stand a chance against the harder armies. But as long as you stay clear of them (thinking of Ogre kingdoms and all goblin armies here in particular) you should be fine.

Thanks for the kind words gang, I was aiming for a 5 on the win-o-meter and I think I have it down, I can certainly see myself having really fun and thought out games!

I'm worried that you'll struggle against tomb kings, i guess you'd best hope everyone else takes relatively friendly army books (daemons, de, skaven, vc, lizards, that sort of thing).

PS 52 is clearly too large, how are you ever going to be able to scout that? i think 45 max.

Yeah thats pretty much the fluffyness of the army in a nutshell really, if I cant place my scouts they dont show up, so I only have 4 cahracters running around, kind of like a hero war, cant get much fluffier than that!

I'd try the dark rider bus. Big unit of dark riders with rxb's, same characters except all on horsies, run a huge unit of fast cav around.
