HE 1500 list for weekly wargamingclub

Hello everyone. Just joined the forum and played my first game with HE and 7th ed last wednesdayevening at my local gamingclub. I played against Bretonnia (with the list I posted a few days ago 2250 points) It was an exciting evenly matched game. Unfortunately I Didn't have time to finish the game, we had to stop at the end of turn 3. It probably took so long because of my huge amount of shooting and magic so that's why I've build this 1500 pts list to have time to finish a game. Please tell me what you think of it.

Have you considered turning the Noble into the BSB?

I could do that, but then my level 1 mage automatically becomes the general(wouldn't that be a bad thing?), because the BSB may not be the general.

Only if you foresee lots of psychological tests.

yeah I guess I wont face that many tests. I maybe I should drop the lion banner for the points to allow me to make a BSB of my noble, or should I drop something else for those points?

Musashi, I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or trying to correct me, so let me elaborate on my previous post to avoid any confusion.

On page 82 of the Rulebook, second paragraph under The General header it states "The character with the highest Leadership value is the General of your army."

Also on page 82 second paragraph under The Battle Standard, "An army's battle standard is usually carried by the character model who cannot normally be the General model itself."

So if Muadib wants to play a Noble and a Mage he cannot have a BSB because the Nobles LD 9 is higher than the Mage's LD 8, therefore the Noble is the General and the Mage cannot be the BSB because he doesn't have that option. So with this build to have a BSB you would have to add a second Noble.

There are no exceptions in the HEAB on this issue.

How do you come to this conclusion?

How can you make the character with the highest leadership the BSB after he would be nominated as the General, which happens as soon as you put him in the army list before you give him any options like nominating him to be the BSB? Please reference me to a rule or FAQ to help me understand what your saying. To me the rules read as the General IS the model with the highest leadership and cannot be the BSB because he IS the General. The rules that I cited before stand up with this interpretation.

I'm not talking about any army specifically here, I understand that the General can't be the BSB unless excepted by their army book.

You quoted the rule yourself, the BSB is disqualified from becoming the general; the general is nominated at the start of the battle, the noble is upgraded to BSB during the creation of the list.

That is what was missing from our conversation and where my apparent confusion came from. I think that interpretation is taking the rules out of context (not by you, mind you) but there you go it's written that way. So never mind my previous posts and thank you for the clarification.

enough about the bsb already :p tell me what you think of the list. I thought I'd try the Blade of Seagold instead of a starlance for when I become charged and against guys with high(re-rollable) saves.

It depends on how you envision your Noble will be fighting and against who. The Star Lance is for when you expect to get the drop on your opponent; Sea Gold sounds like you expect slogging matches. Whichever weapon you choose, try to engage only in ways that will maximize the equipment's potential, which includes picking the specific opponent.

And for the BoSG, that does seem to point to heavy cavalry and well protected characters. I would still try to preempt lance charges.
