Hi there,
I have an upcoming game vs. a friend of mine (we are still playing 7.Ed.). I lost the last three times, playing O&G so this time I would really like to win!
His army usually features a Grey Seer, 2or 3 lvl.2 warplock engineers, 3*25 clanrats + 3*20 slaves, at least; some annoying weapon teams + a Doomwheel. No Abomination luckily.
1. I would be very grateful if you would take the time to comment and criticize the list. Should I for example delete the Swordmasters/chariot + a unit of archers, instead making a big unit of spears?
2. Which lores to choose? I'm thinking mostly High Magic? What is your advice?
Thanks in Advance, Proheal.

Re: 2000 competitive vs. skaven (7.Ed.)
7th edition seems so long ago and my memory of it is already a little fuzzy. That being said 2 units of 10 archers is def the right way to go with getting rid of your core requirements. Past that I would say that your swordmasters unit is too small, I would suggest taking out a chariot and boosting their size. Personally I would also get rid of the rbt's especially against skaven. With their masses of cheap troops our overpriced shooting is not at its most effective imo (note that I have been biased against rbt's since our 7th army book came out.) Id replace them with maybe some dp for some sweat flanking maneuvers to break those blocks of troops. Id also consider cutting 1 white lion and fielding them in 2 ranks. They are stubborn so dont need the extra rank, and with the extra attacks you can keep his troops from having attacks back against your low armour.
Just some thoughts from someone who hasn't touched 7th in however long its been since the new addition. So take these suggestions with a grain of salt.

Re: 2000 competitive vs. skaven (7.Ed.)
Definitely 2x10 archers for core.
Is your BSB really necessary and/or helping you? He seems like an expensive power dice.
I am also not sure about the chariots. They die really easily to Skaven shooting and magic, or the Doomwheel, and their destruction causes panic tests for you.

Re: 2000 competitive vs. skaven (7.Ed.)
First of all thanks to both of you for helping! It is much appreciated
I can see the logic about the WL's being stubborn so I've cut them down to 14, while beefing the SM's up to 14 (two ranks of 7 as well).
I have replaced the chariots with a unit of DP's + some SM's.
New list:

-silver wand
-ring of fury
-dispell scroll
Mage

14 Sword Masters
14 White Lions

5 Dragon Princes
-Champion, Skeinsilver

This leaves me with 30 points.. One more DP, or Guardian Phoenix on the archmage, noble?
I'm thinking of either High Magic for at least one of the casters, to get Drain Magic. The other one could take High as well, or maybe fire, or death? Let me know what you think.

The reason that I included the RBT's was because of the Doomwheel, I don't really know what else can reliably take it down? It tends to destroy whatever it touches. Do you think the DP's I added can, or can its movement be messed with by the eagles?ducky11 wrote:7th edition seems so long ago and my memory of it is already a little fuzzy. I get your point, about the BSB, maybe the lvl.4 + lvl.2 +BoS are enough power dice. I gave him AoC instead.dabber wrote:Definitely 2x10 archers for core.
