We need a whole new page to discuss it I think, though I dare not start the thread. BoLS will pick it up soon enough and then the whole world will know.

To be honest it's what I've come to expect. Not saying it think it was a good move, but it's the one I expected.

I say reboot/facelift. They have tons of great lore, it only needs to be tweaked to make it "hip" and meet some criteria that they think will excite new gamers. Expect a new world map, but more or less the same factions.

That one passage made me so happy to have sat out this whole End Times story line..

Disappointed by Tyrion's rules. Without the Heart of Averlorn he seems weaker than the pre-End Times Tyrion unless he is fighting Undead or Daemons. I would have preferred a bound Banishment spell.

Caradryan: Incarnate of Fire looks pretty awesome though. I imagine using him for lots of bombing runs, Wake of Fire in the movement phase followed by fireballs in the magic phase. Definitely a lot stronger than any Anointed+Flamespyre build and not that much more expensive.

Perhaps all this has happened before? it is the constant cycle of the chaos Gods, the world is born, then destroyed, then born again. Everything changes on each rebirth but the cycle stays the same.

I care little for Warhammer fluff. I just hope that GW provides me with a balanced, competitive and enjoyable game.

Not impressed by Tyrion; he loses the Heart of Averlon and his 18" inspiring presence in return for +1 WS,T,W,A a hit on Daemonic/Undead models within short range, MR2-3 which works against shooting and a hefty points bump.

Caradryan is much more impressive, though he doesn't have good saves. He also (amusingly) lacks flaming attacks in melee, because his flaming attacks rule is innate, not part of the Pheonix Blade anymore.

So the final End is a terribly written afterthought. Not unexpected. Now how long until we see how much the new cycle is different from the last?
The peoples of the world beheld their doom and cried: "Oh well, get finally over with it."

Someone already managed to cite the text so here it is for those who do not want to squint at the photo:
And so did the world fell to oblivion.

The hungry rift in the middle of the lands of men devoured reality. It expanded slowly at first, but then it did with the hunger of a savage fire.

Invigorated, the gates at the poles broke free from their chains and joined the feast of their sister.

The peoples of the world beheld their doom and cried in desperation.

There were not two observers who saw the same. Some saw fire burning in the skies, others saw a whirlwind of icy stars, some others saw colossal tentacles and maws full of teeth drooling the very essence of chaos. Perhaps the Chaos Gods ascended their champions to daemonhood for the battles that took place amongst the flames, but it mattered little. The truth of those desperate wars was lost.

The Oak of Ages was the last to disappear. The sad dryads’ song resounded beneath the pale skies while Athel Loren perished. With his passing, the Tapestry that held time and space together shrink and unraveled. Twisted by unnatural forces, it dissolved into nothingness. That terrible act of destruction could last the blink of an eye, or millennia. The Chaos Gods were not tied to time, and thus they did not notice it. Bored of their victory, they turned their backs to the destruction they had wrought, and so did the Great Game start anew in other worlds. In doing this, they did not notice the tiny dot of light that stumbled in the infinite darkness… the blazing essence of what was once a man.

He fell through the storms of absolute blackness, swinging for eons in the invisible tides. Then a shining orb appeared, the ferocious heart of a world as cold as the very abyss. Desperate, the being clung to the orb with a strength that could shake mountains. He stared firmly at the void and, from the darkness, the void stared back at him. It held tight to the sphere, regaining his lost strength. He reached with his hands, and a miracle took shape.

What would happen tomorrow? What about the untold legends and the cycle of the stars?

It truly was the End Times.

But also the beginning…

Horrible horrible horrible. My brother's "yuck" reaction when he read it pretty much sums it up. I shall happily ignore most of the End Times and remain in a just post SoC setting. Just hope I get the funds to finish up my empire and dwarfs armies before the remove the models from the store.

Don't worry, there are counter measures already in place, a last literary nudge from Headshot and a gift from Spite.

What is it they always say? Narrith lessa kynn'barr.
Only in the Dreaming Woods are Mortals truly free, t'was always thus and always thus will be.

Sweet Loec! Put like that it is bad enough to be funny. Also, the eternity seems to have been grossly overrated.

What does that mean? The "narrith lessa kynn'barr" thing.

Read Headshot's stories, they will explain it better than I ever could; they're something of an institution on the forums here.

As this is a spoiler topic, it means: 'Never leave a brother behind.' Nagarathi saying. But read those stories anyway.

So for new Warhammer. Let's call it Flailhammer in memory of the last Warhammer miniature ( http://i.imgur.com/mD6FwsT.jpg) we have confirmed these 'bubble factions' so far:

Lizardmen
Elves
Skaven
Humans of some flavour
Chaos as the matter of course

Guess I better work my but off if I want to be on that level.

I imagine my princess just washed ashore on some beach somewhere, looking up and seeing all the stars different, but familiar. She sees her trusted sword tossed onto the sand by the waves further up. She crawls to it, finding all strength to even bear the armor on her back drained. Upon gripping the hilt of the weapon tightly, the screen cuts to black.

"To be continued"

I still think we shouldn't see too many negative changes, otherwise this release of miniatures would be null and void. I imagine Araloth cultivates this new world as the head of the new pantheon, to separate these elf gods from 40k elves forever. However that's where the differences end. It's a well deserved face lift to the wold and underappreciated races like Orcs, Lizards, and Ogres. Make the world map more contained and accessible to all races, instead of making a bigger earth but then only using continental Europe

Doesn't matter. Malekith died in such a pitiful way that it makes everything worthwhile again.

Should that line be true and the actual book doesn't botch it, Malekith essentially dies unloved and in pain after:

1- Only managing to accomplish his goals thanks to Teclis, Allariele and Imrik doing all the hard job for him.
2- Losing time and again against Tyrion, even when he wasn't possessed by the Sword of Khaine
3- Being saved from Tyrion by Alith Anar, who actually Kill Steals Malekith.
4- Getting everything he whished for, just to lose it a couple... months? later
5- Kind of tries to redeem himself and is promptly (I hope) ignored

While that's not what I would have hoped for (he manages to get what he wanted, after all), it's reasonably close to it.

I think only the afterthought was poorly written otherwise bravo for all of it. Now 9th edition is still a ways away so let's buckle in, it's going to be a wild ride!

Yes, Malekith gained everything just to lose it all, which is poetic justice. As for myself, I really hate the fact that Tyrion was ressurected, but I knew all along that he will so no surprise. I suppose everybody dies anyway, so...

Yeah, way to cheapen things and not let the beaten horse die.
