Warhammer Fantasy 2014

#1 Post by NightHawk45 »

This past year I've moved a few time have had a couple different jobs and haven't played a single lick of warhammer nor have I really kept up with it. What's happened in the Warhammer scene in 2014? Which army books have come out and have the been any substantial rule/game play changes? I've been thinking about getting back into the game and this would be a great start. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Yeah that was a bit of a shock. Also, Nagash is back and half the Elector Counts died.

Ja, maybe that wasn't the place to start.

Should have gone with Malliketh is king of all the elves instead.

For some reason Shannar, without having read the ET books, it does sound a lot like our High Elves got the short end of the stick in a fantastic synopsis.

An excellent elf army book came out.

Oh and there was some stuff about the end of the world I believe.

He's not King of my elves...

Are you referring to the Wood Elf book?

Yes indeed, start of May.

Dwarf book came out earlier in the year.

Oh what the heck, lets keep it going. Forgive the spellings, I hope I can get them close enough that you know who I mean.

Elitherian- dead
Bellanor- dead
Eldrya- vampire/some kind of new death goddess.
Daughter of the Everqueen- Dead.
Finubar- dead
Korhil- dead
Tyrion- dead
Telcis- MIA, but almost certainly not dead. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

I'm sure I'm leaving off some other dead ones.

I'm actually not fond of what the WE book did to them fluffwise, but as a playable army book it was a huge step up.

I was very hopeful on the dwarf book. But in my (admittedly somewhat limited) experience against it so far I think the choices of units changed some, but play-style didn't really.

Agree on the WE book.

But fluff you can take or leave. Rules on the table are harder to get around.

Also, I've been looking for the faq and errata, but gw has changed their site a little bit. I found The Black Library's links to the faq: link but it doesn't contain one for the High Elves. Does anyone know where it is or better yet can provide me a link to gw's faq and errata page?

Thanks!

GW has been too busy writing the End Times to produce many FAQs. Believe High Elves have not had one for some time.

Oh man, this thread made me laugh. Seeing things summarised so succinctly really puts them in perspective... :D

Lord and Hero caps went from 25% to 50% each.

We've seen a rise of 1000pts uber characters

Brettonia got destroyed. At least twice...

Naggaroth was overrun by chaos.

I like the new WE treeman kit.

It is amusing when you read it bullet pointed like that.

To summarise, take everything you knew about HE's before your year off and forget about it! Our land and most of our hero's are consigned to the history books!
