This thread kind of makes me wonder how Andrew is getting on.

All right. This is your crazy Sapherian:

My name is Iva, I live in Kolín in Czech Republic. As elf I would be 3 hundred something. I work as librarian in a museum library in Prague. I studied history and it is one of my interests. I am a long time RPG player, avid Tolkien fan and dabble in Warhammer for a year and half now. Painting minis became my main hobby since then, but I enjoy hiking, skiing, canoeing, gardening and generally avoid noisy modern contraptions as much as I can in my free time, including TV. I do not have enough time to watch it anyway. Apart of this, I am somewhat interested in Tarot and such. I really couldn't resist the White Tower library.

I have to say, you look shorter than the last photo you posted, sure you're not Dawi?

Andrew, I hope you're feeling Ok at the moment.

I've been through a lot of the same things you have but not all at once, that sounds like a real killer. Really glad that you've started to feel better and hope that continues. I think things like this are always worse during recessions (the one in the early 90's knocked me flat).

Unemployment in particular can really eat you away. But often that's just a case of bad luck, wrong place and wrong time.

Keep the faith!

One of my friends was going through something very similar this past year. Now it seems it finally started turning for the better (fingers crossed). I hope it will take a good turn for you as well, Andrew!

Hello all, I don't post as much on here as I used to a couple of years ago, sadly real life tends to get in the way. My name is Rob Conway. Warhammer fantasy has been one of my main hobbies for the last 18 years of my life, starting way back at the beginning of 5th edition. My beloved High Elves are on their 4th brand new army, and it's definitely neat to put each army next to each other to see how my painting has progressed over the years!

In real life, I work for the greatest of all Evil Empires. Yes, I work for Starbucks Coffee company, and am rapidly approaching 10 years there. It helps feed my coffee addiction, and also is flexible enough for me to work my second job, which is as an Assistant Coach for my Fencing Club. I have been a competitive fencer in epee for the last 3 years, making it to the Summer National Championships last year, and although I made the National Points list this year, I sadly didn't qualify. Ah, but there's always tomorrow, right?

I have been taking martial arts and/or sword-fighting in some form or another since I was about 5 years old. The list includes kendo, aikido, scarlet dragon lung fu do, shotokan karate, kempo, and most recently tai chi. After two years spent working at Medieval Times Dinner Theater, I am both a accomplished horseman and jouster.

And yes, I realize at this point that I sound like I have been trying to live as an Elven Prince in our horribly modern world. You are not far wrong!

Here are some pics of myself and my lovely and incredibly amazing girlfriend (who may wind up being seduced by the Vampire Counts....)

Yep! Lookin' ace mate! Thumbs up! :3

The swordery is a definite plus as well. I'm saving up to buy a 1796 cavalry saber at the moment. :3

That is fantastic! I'm trying to get a Toledo steel Rapier myself. You ever want someone to talk cutlery or fighting techniques with, I'm your man. I'm not terribly far away from you either. I forgot to mention in my intro post I'm from the Baltimore, Maryland area.

Well I might as well get in on the action here. My name is Daniel Harcus. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I have Australian Citizenship via my mother who was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and I spent 2.5 years living the beautiful town of Stanthorpe in the Granite Belt of Queensland where I attended school, played Soccer, Rugby, Aussie Rules Footy, Cricket and started to play with swords. I am 24 and Married with a "Fur" baby called Kavick. Kavick is a Siberian Husky, and a total hand full at 2 1/2 years of age. I have been playing Warhammer since 1999, and have always been loyal to HEs.

My hobbies include:
Jousting
Sword Training
Playing the Classical Guitar
Warhammer - no brainer
Snowboarding
Paintballing
Camping/Hiking/Canoeing
Playing with my Husky

I am a Security Specialist currently going through more training to advance up the ranks.

I like this. I too will get on board.

My name is Jeff Burns and I was born, raised and live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (It was mentioned once in an episode of the The Simpsons :) ). I am 42 this year, I think I might be the oldest here  . I did live in Calgary Alberta for 10 years when I used to Alpine ski race (I made our National Alpine Development Ski team at 18). I then I crashed and wrecked my low back and my right knee (5 surgeries). I taught English in Korea for a year and I have 2 degrees from university (BSC & a BA). I am a Financial Planner and have been for almost 14 years. I am married (9 years in September) and have a daughter who is 7 (she's the one who inspired my HE color theme - gotta love the pink & purple).

I played D&D for 30 years and have been painting for more than 20. I like to paint and build figures more than play WH (I am a historically bad dice roller - the dice gods frown on me), but I have been playing almost every 2 weeks for about 3 years now.

This is my wife and me.

This is my daughter. She's just starting to paint her own figures.

I am one Frik'n lucky man!!

Some good looking families here :) It's motivating to see that although you get a 'real life' Warhammer doesn't necessarily stop being a part of that!

Hey everyone, I'm a relatively new poster here. Name is Aidan and I live in Sydney, studying full time at UNSW in Mechatronic Engineering.

I've been playing WH on and off since about '97 (mostly off) and have started to get back into it.

Things apart from Warhammer I do in my spare time, swordsmanship and...

Nothing. I'm an Engineering student I don't have spare time.

I train in Yang Taijijian as my preferred method of Swordsmanship, @Koradrel, we need to talk about you sword techniques, lineage, forms sparring weapons etc.

Here's a pic of my baby:
Image

Before I went back to uni, I did 6 years in the Royal Australian Navy as an IT and Communications guy and 3 years before that I worked Security in nightclubs. I've done a ton, been married, gotten divorced, seen crazy parts of the world, all good.

That's a very beautifull sword. One question, how do you pronounce Yang Taijijian?

Welcome.

Thanks, it's 4000 layer twist-core san-mei constructed. Paper cutting sharp and beautiful for forms work.

Yang is almost exactly like it's spelt (I can't really describe the tonal inclinations in text properly) .

Tai, just imagine Tie, but with an 'a' sound in it if that makes any sense.

ji, rising inflection, kinda, like Chi, but softer and shorter.

jian, same sort of way as above with 'an' on the end.

I'm bad at trying to describe sounds (I'm partially tone-deaf so I can't really relate like most people) However type '太极剑' into Google Translate and click listen (It's Chinese, so if it tries to translate from japanese, it'll be wrong)

Suppose it's about time I stop being so antisocial, eh?

Image

I'm the one on the left, unfortunately. We're pretending to be clever.

Edit: I forgot the details didn't I?

My name is Rando (it's short for Randolph (Anglo-Saxon for 'Shieldwolf') and, until I'm able to grow a proper beard (i.e. not for another 20 years), I don't think I can carry the full name off). I was born and bred in Bath in North Somerset and went to University in Exeter to study ancient history. This was ostensibly for my own enlightenment but at least as much because I loved Age of Empires.

I am now 29, living in London and working as a trainee (hopefully soon to be qualified) solicitor in the City. My girlfriend (pictured) and I live in a tiny flat in Greenwich which is nice and modern but has no space at all for displaying my high elves, which she mockingly calls my "magic munchkins". In my spare time (of which I don't have a great deal at the moment), I read history books. I've played High Elves for as long as I've played Warhammer (so since I was 12 or so), and they are my only fantasy army. This is partly because I have complete loyalty for the ultimate good guys and partly because I am the world's slowest painter. Love them as I do, I find the scale-mailed bejeweled elves an absolute bastard to paint in any detail.

Great to see you participating Seredain. Have you got two words about what you do etc as well? ;)

By the way, looking at the picture I can`t help but think:

Seredain: "That last game, I`m pretty sure my Lions could`ve wrapped around on the Western flank, that would`ve given me a 20-0. Gotta remember that!"
Woman: "What should I wear tonight? Red dress?"
