Woot first post!

I've been toying with where my army hails and have finally decided to go with a lost coloney called Tor Lithanel, hiden away with laurelorn forest.

Tor Lithanel is ruled by the Witch Queen Ilfirinel who recently inherited the title. She wishes to open trade routes to Ulthuan and the Empire of man, lifting the self impossed exile her mother implimented millenia ago.

I'll be posting more as I become more aquainted with the forum.

As the name suggests Lochlann of Lothern hails from the great seaport of Lothern.

I have always been a distant fan (from other armies) of the SG. Partially because I once was a professional mariner, and partially because they have a good raison d'etre.

The force colours will be Dark Blue, Gray and White (with touches of bright green such as gems) all good and serious seafaring colours.

My army comes from Nikaia, a colony located somewhere in the Border Princes. The background I came up with goes like this:

"It is indeed a historician's duty to form a very strong bulwark, preserving the real deeds of great men and heroes from the stream of time, saving them from drowning in the depths of obscurity, securing them, binding them together so that they do not slip into oblivion.

I have been graced by Asuryan with the chance of witnessing an age unparalleled in heroism and unsurpassed in wisdom. The greatness of the men I was allowed to meet: the great Lord Iluhir, the venerable Lord Gwynwytchtl, the delightful Queen Andrea and many other scions of the Elven race has pushed me to writing down not only the deeds that took place in my lifetime but a record of the achievements of our Empire since its dawn as precise as my sources allowed.

Asuryan blessed me with a keen mind and the 100 thousand tomes without one that are stored in the Great Library of the East I memorised swiftly but it was in my long journey across the lands of Elves, Men and Dwarves that I have gathered knowledge of all things. Now, in the autumn of my days, I feel I am obliged to tell the story of an Empire, whose apogeum of power I witnessed and whose end, I fear, will come before mine.

When, in the tenth year of his reign (1589 Before Sigmar according to the Imperial Calendar), the Phoenix King Caradryel ordered all High Elven armies to depart from the Old World and head for Ulthuan to repel the Druchii invasion, not all of Asur colonies obeyed. The most well known seperatists are the Asrai, known to those not of Elven Kind as the Wood Elves. Hidden in their mysterious woodland realm of Athel Loren, they have abandoned most of the traditional Elven culture. But they were not the only ones to refuse leaving their home. During the thousand-year long presence on the continent, generations of Elves were born and raised to live in a kingdom completely unlike the isle of Ulthuan. It was for the protection of this land that their fathers sacrificed their lives, and it was in this land that they would remain until Chaos consumes all.

This is the record of the fate of those colonies.

Upon the departure of the last of elven regiments from Nikaia, the city fell silent with fear of the unknown. The Exarch-Governor was, too, summoned to the capital and the inhabitants of the port city would have expected a bloody power-struggle between the factions, clamorous processions of Vaul monks preaching the end of the world, or at least some strife among the unruly sailors, now that the wardens have left. But there was nothing.

The city of Nikaia was founded in the straits of the Black Sea to guard trade routes leading to the kingdoms of Ind, Cathay and Nippon from marauder bands of Orcs and wild nomadic tribes of human warriors. Although the comodities of Ulthuan are by far the most valuable, the goods produced in the East are also sought be many Elven nobles as exotic and prestigious, and so the city grew and prospered.

A large port forms the heart of the city and it is linked with finely paved streets to the numerous famed markets of Nikaia. Along these streets the wealthy marchant princes had built their glamorous appartment houses, rivaling in trying to astonish the by-passers. The most influential build their palaces in the street leading uphill, to the Exarch Palace and the temple of Asuryan. Built entirely from anullian marble, they have served as a reminiscence of Ulthuan for every single one of its inhabitants.

Numerous industrial districts surround the hill, and each is controlled by a guild. Guilds, often organised in form of religious orders, control almost all of the everyday aspects of their members' lives. As such they are groups of great political power and military strenght. Every ruler must take their will into consideration, because, although loyal in times of need, the master craftsmen have a long tradition of overthrowing stubborn Exarchs.

The city is protected by a ring of walls and maintains a strong regiment of militia at all times. Thanks to this, despite beening under siege several times, it was never conquered.

Silence was uncommon in this busy port. But for a brief moment it seemed that the city held its breath. The noisy alleys of the guild districts, where the boisterous barter seemed to never stop suddenly became as calm as the spacious halls of the Exarchs. And even though the population of Nikaia is notorious for its down-to-earth approach, witnesses described the moment the sails disappeared in the west as ... heartbreaking."

Depite the typolexia suffered in my registration...

My Characte reigns from Eataine.

Will try to work on some fluff for him once my brain recovers from writing my IA:Fists of Dorn project.

My army, it's fluff still in the work, originates from a colony in Bourdeleux. It is going to be a WFB equivalent of the La Rochelle, an independent city surrounded by feudal fiefdoms, and a city that holds onto its freedom like it is never going out of style.

My general comes from the mist-wreathed city of Tor Koruali. Here comes the fluff.

Avarael Starmantle was the second in line to rule Tor Koruali and was free to follow his heart to study at the White Tower. There over the passing decades his arcane understanding and knowledge of magic grew in tandem with his martial learning and blade skill. He became a Loremaster of several areas of study including divination, alchemy, theology, and the aesetic disciplines of the Swordmasters. His greatest passion was merging the tangibile physical world with the incorporeal magical world through eldritch artifice. He took an active part in his homelands defence both at Wailing Fen and in Eltharions great purge of the Badlands. Although his actions in both spoke more to his abilities as a warrior than a leader of Asur. He was called home to rule when his elder brother was killed in the Old World by the nefarious rat men and the ancestral weapon of his lineage, Everbright, was lost.

Now this Loremaster turned Prince leads his people as best he can against threats from outside the everpresent mists and against the last echos of a war four and a half millennia old in the magical fog. Thankfully he is not alone is his task. Glorfindain Cloudfire, Arms Major of Tor Koruali, rides the blue Griffon Rahagra through the skies ever on the hunt for Demons. Irenylon Morningcrown, the Pale Regent and Avaraels' sister in law, leads the Frostmane Riders in battle while Thalandar Silverwake helps her teache weave the eaight winds into spells that leave allies infused with power and enemies as floating moats of ash. With the other leaders of the city at his side they will find the Regal Weapon of the Starmantle family and push back the infernal presence from their homeland once for all. For Ulthuan! For the Last Tower!

........the "Last Tower" being Tor Koruali. It's the most easternly located city on continental Ulthuan.

I think I finally settled on a Cothique/Saphery expedition to the City of Spires and the Dragon Isles. I'm still working on the details, background, and fluff. I know it's not very traditional, but I can imagine one of the younger children in a noble family (not set to inherit much) going out across the sea to earn fame and fortune, to bring glory to his house and maybe set up his future.

Caledor, no question about it, though my Army has many warriors from around Ulthuan. I will now attempt to explain why.

The House of Gladomain has reigned in Summersong since the days of their mighty ancestor, Caledor the Warrior. Through the years, as Caledorian power has diminished, their standing at court has been slowly eroded, and, as staunch supporters of the War of the Beard, are shunned by several of the more liberal Elf Nobles.
However, at the beginning of the reign of Finubar the Seafarer, the Patriarch of the family, Adorián Glaodmain, was slain at the Battle of Wailing Fen. His eldest son, Adotumal, took up the reigns of the family, and has begun to repair the relationship between the Gladomains and the rest of the High Elf court. He is aided and hindered by different members of his family: his sister, Seleroth, is an Archmage, recently graduated from the White Tower, and her calm intelligence has smoothed over many family grudges. However, the other magical member of the family, Adotumal's cousin Finreir, is a Dragon Mage, and his temper and lack of subtlety has made it harder for him to promote the family name. However, Finreir is one of the two Mages who accompanied the mighty Teclis to the Empire during the Great Chaos Incursion, and the ear of such a powerful and influential Elf has brought great respect to House Gladomain. Finally, Adoril Gladomain, Adotumal's younger brother, is a typical Caledorian youth: arrogant, hot-headed and always looking for a fight. To temper his vicious streak, Adotumal made him his Battle Standard Bearer, to try to check his lust for battle under a heavy banner. This has gone against Adotumal, since it only made Adoril stronger, and he is now one of the most feared warriors in the Dragon Spine mountain.
The family has many ties of loyalty from other houses around Ulthuan: Several White Lions are a gift from Finubar himself, Sea Guard from Lothern, Seleroth's Swordmaster of Hoeth, one of whom is Bladelord Kalaer from the Island of Blood, and, finally, the family's greatest ally and closest friend, Prince Althran Stormrider.

I am thinking of making a Lothern-themed army, with a large block of LSG and a Sky Cutter, Bolt Thrower and Great Eagles.

As you might have guessed from the username its Caledor all the way, because dragons.

I'll be trying to work on some backstory once i've gone through the upcoming Khaine book, but basically if I don't take Imrik himself my character will be at the helm of an "unleashed" type army, filled to the brim with cavalry and dragons.

Ladril Caledor is a prince riding a two-headed golden star dragon. The whole army is painted red with green trim and every model has gold armour. I find the beauty of the colour scheme compensates for my sloppy painting skills ;)

Ladril and his followers are frowned upon by the other high elves, the two-headed dragon is dismissed as a mutant freak and accusations of a Chaos connection are frequently whispered in the courts. Despite this, Ladril and his army work tirelessly to defend Caledor and the elves, and Ladril's friendship with Imrik means they are tolerated...for now.

Although still in progress my army will certainly be hitting"Avelornii", with conversions of other provincial units to maICH the theme ...(no white lions in.Avelorn so, brown bear skins shall do...)

Back in 5th Edition (not sure if it was like this before) if Alith Anar was the army's general he'd give all the elves in the army the Hate Dark Elves special rule, symbolising him calling on all his kinsmen for a rare massed battle. I decided to make my army around that simple yet very fluffy rule, so I guess my guys all hail from Nagarythe.

My brother's core army comes from Cothique. But that is only his core forces, with his noble family characters mapped out and special regiments planned or already converted. Add to that his substantial collection of Elven miniatures which will hail from all the different provinces of Ulthuan (preferably one spear elf regiment per province plus an elite unit at the very least), and you've got the plans of a true pointy-eared megalomaniac. As it should be!

As for myself, I'll have enough experience modelling and painting Elves when helping my brother and sculpting the odd miniature for casting. Aiding your friends lets you experience other armies than you yourself have, taste the whole fantasy smörgåsbord. A bit of a pity only that our main armies are High Elves (his) and Dwarfs respectively. Two of the most demanding-to-paint armies in Warhammer in my quite wide experience. :)

I’m an elf player but experiencing the whole thing is really important, other armies are great fun and give good perspective.

I would express the Guard start from universally. furthermore, no spot. In spite of the way that by a long shot most abide in the asylum island of Asuryan in the inward sea. Moreover, in that limit would have no spot in an overview about locales.
