Banner of Sorcery [Rules Question]

Had an interesting debate RE: the BoS last week. Do your mages need to be within 24" of the Banner to benefit from the D3 PD it offers, or are those D3 PD simply added to the army pool from which any mage regardless of position on the board can use.

As there is nothing in the rules stating anything about 24", i'd give that a big of course he always gets the D3.

They go to the pool. The authors of the army book mis-spelled "pool"; i.e., "pile"

No. Unless it says '24 inches' the rule does not apply.

It's added to the army pool, not a particular mage, so a 24 inch rule would be pointless...

Just curious, how was this even a "debat"? Where did you come up with the number 24? It seems pretty arbitrary to me. I could understand like 12" if it was on a BSB or something, but even that is a stretch.

Sorry, this has just been vexing me...

24 inches is the average range for the majority of spells. I would think that's where the number is coming from.

I'm not sure where he got it from I assumed it was an old rule from a previous edition. Didn't really bother me during the game that much as it was never an issue - but ill remember next time.
