Interesting Tales from the Ages: Compiled

#1 Post by Bloodcrusader »

Alright. Working on a cleaner way of sifting through stories here? Here's the place that can help you.

Basically, in your opinion, you may post links here to the best of your own work for others to read up on, or add one of the site's many great tales from other artists down here as a must-read. At the end of it (though there never will be an end exactly to the talent of so many writers here :P ), the result is a long list of links from our members for others to find worth reading. Length, style, genre, inspiration... - doesn't matter. Let's see what we can come up with!

So to start, I'll make a short list by seeing what I can come up with (In no particular order), and you can add as you think they come along...

Firstly, a piece from Wizzie's desk he's approved of, (unless you have something else you'd rather put here :P ):

Madeline's very old Scrivener's entry (scroll halfway down the page and you'll find it in one of my posts from a while ago  - not exactly the best place for it, but still a great story. Really deserves it's own thread *hint*... :P ). Focuses on the tale of a misunderstood daemon, dealing with what I'd call lofty use of the GW WH World.

Tyranoc's winning Scrivener's entry. Not the best in detail + description, but a bunch of other people liked it for its nice concept, so I'll put it here.

Calarion deserves an entire page for his work, though that's essentially already in the library :P , so here's those links too:

And anything else by him pretty much by default deserves its place in something like this. If you can find anything else, Cal  ...

Si'anelle's old stuff from a long time ago on a site far, far away... I'll see if I can find any other links, since there's a few of the best stories not on that list, if I remember correctly.

The only one I can find for Slyth is his latest Scrivener's, and though I haven't read it, it's likely the one he's most proud of, so...

I've no idea what Victor/Squeak/Elias think would be their best stories (and I'm expecting this post to be heavily edited by no time), so I'll let them have their own word on things. Though I did find this one by Vic specifically interesting, for anyone who'd like a nice, short read:
http://www.asur.org.uk/ulthuan/viewtopic.php?t=5107

... And I'll shamelessly put in my own work in progress :P , which I'm right now enthralled in and will keep editing/expanding (yes, a WiP, but the only one I'm actually proud of right now):

Some of the recent Scrivener's entries likely fit this list as well, but since I haven't read any of them I'll not comment.

And so, feel free to add to this list as much as you'd like. Those listed surely aren't the greatest ones out there, so see what you can come up with! Whatever you'd recommend or find truly outstanding, and in whatever genre you like (just limiting the amount of poems would be appreciated :P ).
So, any takers?

Now here is a thing I didst not think I would see, - a link to my most ancient scrivenings. Ah, in those day I didst wield a fair enough pen, but it hath been long since I shaped worlds at my command with but ink and parchment.
It was my thought that much that I hath scrivened is no longer before the eyes of Men and that mayhap I should delve deep into my most dusty scrolls to seek Tales that hath faded from the mind of Men.

Dear Ones, ah thou wouldst not know me. In these times I do live but simply as a Secular Religious and to think that once I didst dream of Slaanesh and most wicked sensual decadence. Also it is long since I hath fielded an army and now all my small and most valiant figurines do sleep within their cases and hath not seen the light of day for many a year.

May this year of 2009 be kind with thee, and may the Good God+ bless thee all.

Si'anelle once of Avelorn.
