Wednesdays results are in, and what an... uneventful Wednesday this was. Remember this "Mother Ulthuan would be proud"-thingy back in last week? Well, you did it again, albeit with two players less this time.

Code:
Orcslicer       N N G N N     G N N N N     N G N
NoOoDLe         G G N G G     G N G N N     G N N
Luna Guardian   G G G G G     N N N N G     N N N
cidracin        N G G N G     N N G G G     G N N

Shandiar        N G N N N     N N G G N
Sturen          G G N N G     G N N N N
Amun-Lothain    N N G N G
Prince_Asuryan  G G G N G

Orcslicer has finally gotten cooperation rolling with NoOoDLe, but unfortunately for him so has Luna Guardian and cidracin. While Luna's and Orcslicers strategies are sound in the long run, there's now only two days left for them to climb the dreadful last positions and make themselves winners. Resembling a game of chicken, who will change their strategy first?

  1. cidracin 11 (34)
  2. NoOoDLe 8 (39)
  3. Orcslicer 8 (36)
  4. Luna Guardian 6 (29)
  5. Shandiar 22
  6. Sturen 20
  7. Amun-Lothain 6
  8. Prince_Asuryan 4

Two days left. PM me your testimony for Thursday.

Yesterday's run of cooperation was short-lived, almost everyone turned the coat today. And the one player that didn't? Luna Guardian gets the suckers reward of zero points today, potentially devastating to his chances.

Code:
Orcslicer       N N G N N     G N N N N     N G N G
NoOoDLe         G G N G G     G N G N N     G N N G
Luna Guardian   G G G G G     N N N N G     N N N N
cidracin        N G G N G     N N G G G     G N N G

Shandiar        N G N N N     N N G G N
Sturen          G G N N G     G N N N N
Amun-Lothain    N N G N G
Prince_Asuryan  G G G N G

This brings us our first winner, congrats to cidracin who at 16 points post-reset (behind NoOoDLe's total of 40 though with 39) are a whooping seven points ahead of the rest with only a single day left to play. NoOoDLe and Orcslicer both rests at 9 points each, but Luna Guardian is not out of contention yet.

  1. cidracin 16 (39)
  2. NoOoDLe 9 (40)
  3. Orcslicer 9 (37)
  4. Luna Guardian 6 (29)
  5. Shandiar 22
  6. Sturen 20
  7. Amun-Lothain 6
  8. Prince_Asuryan 4

At this point, it's possible to do a little divining as to who the second winner will be, depending on tomorrow's outcome. For Luna Guardian to climb ahead and take the second spot, both NoOoDLe and Orcslicer needs to testify Guilty and cidracin to give a gracious Not Guilty. Orcslicer and NoOoDLe can put Luna out of contestion by cooperating, but that will only save NoOoDLe from the sharp edge of Ruerl -- Orcslicer's life will be forfeit. While some are in a tougher spot than others, tomorrows decision still warrants some consideration -- this final round might yet prove to be the most interesting.

Dwell on it lads, and PM me your final testimony.

Luna, you git... pleading NG again was the last thing I expected you to do. You've doomed me! Well, you and Noodle. Unless Noodle for some reason fails to check in, which would be VERY handy at this point :D

Black Ark "Fist of Malekith", the Witch King's personal floating fortress, glides across the waves silently, powered by arcane Dark Magic. It's bulk is difficult to comprehend, it's side resembling a steep cliff wall with towers looming over them. The highest towers, normally reserved for flocks of Harpies, have been cleaned out to honor this day, and weren't it for the heavy mist surrounding the Ark there would be a magnificent view, the Druchii Destroyers looking the size of ants in the waters below.

This day is the final day of the Naggarond Trials, and a selected crowd of Druchii nobles has been invited to see the final verdict and the execution of two prisoners. The reason for them being there is that the Witch King have decreed the beheaded corpses of the Asur prisoners be sent back to Ulthuan, as a grim message of what awaits any Asur that defies the will of Malekith, the true Phoenix King. Of course, even though it hasn't been announced yet, everyone present hopes that the two acquitted also will be given to High Executioner Ruerl Khan, present as well this foggy day.

A trumpet sounds and the four prisoners, chained to their hands and feet, enters the tower grounds to the menacing cheer of the assembled Druchii. Led onto a platform with four chopping blocks, the Head Judge in a short speech declares them all guilty to the whooping Druchii crowd, and has the prisoners heads lowered onto the blocks.

Code:
Orcslicer       N N G N N     G N N N N     N G N G G
NoOoDLe         G G N G G     G N G N N     G N N G G
Luna Guardian   G G G G G     N N N N G     N N N N G
cidracin        N G G N G     N N G G G     G N N G N

Shandiar        N G N N N     N N G G N
Sturen          G G N N G     G N N N N
Amun-Lothain    N N G N G
Prince_Asuryan  G G G N G

Then a loud shriek pierces the air.

Out from the mist sweeps a great eagle at high altitude, wingspan of at least 20 meters, down on the Druchii crowd. Diving straight for the raised platform, High Executioner Ruerl Khan barely has time to throw himself flat on his face before the huge beast flies past, grabbing a prisoner in each talon and takes off into the mist.

Moments later the alarm is sounded all across the Black Ark, and the fog clears for a short moment to reveal a small Asur vessel at the horizon, carrying the colors of Chrace. While the rest of the Ark takes up arms to pursue the ship, Ruerl Khan looks down and notes that there's still two prisoners left, and that the panicked and outraged Druchii crowd might be eased at the sight of blood.

  1. cidracin 16 (39)
  2. Luna Guardian 11 (34)
  3. NoOoDLe 10 (41)
  4. Orcslicer 10 (38)
  5. Shandiar 22
  6. Sturen 20
  7. Amun-Lothain 6
  8. Prince_Asuryan 4

Safe in the talons of the great eagle flying high above the Ark, invisible in the fog, cidracin and Luna Guardian hears the distinct thud of Ruerls axe finding its mark two consecutive times, followed by a cheer from their former captors. Their friends Orcslicer and NoOoDLe are no more, but cidracin and Luna Guardian takes solace that they against all odds have escaped the Naggarond Trials.

They're going home.

Congratulations to cidracin and Luna Guardian, the winners of this round of Naggarond Trial. I hoped you all enjoyed playing it as much as I did. Image

Farewell my friends, I hope you'll remember me with fondness when I'm de...wait, WHAT?

I actually survived? How the hell did that happen!? Someone explain to me how I'm still alive when it was almost certain from week one that I'd end up dead! Not that I'm complaining of course (thanks ciddie), just surprised is all.

Also: Take that Ruerl, hah!

Elmoth is/was one of the greatest members of the site and I do feel that the forum is poorer without him.

Also, he's entirely right

In the old days I might have banned him for 24 hours just to prove him wrong, the kids these days don't have the humor for that though ;) (I actually did that to Regulus once, damn it was funny).

Entiredly agreed, great guy. Still chatting to him once in a blue moon on msn. And his old maxim still holds true concerning support and mainstay units.

I've been thinking of possible ways to evolve the game into something a little more... Well, fun. Input appreciated.

For starters, I'd like to run the game longer, for say 5-6 weeks, starting with 12-14 players. Combined with the second change, that is keep teams fixed, I think it'll help people get a feel for how to best evolve cooperation. Third, I'm thinking of resetting the score every week, so as to avoid situations where top teams can play it safe for the last two weeks without risking anything.

Daily submissions for 5-6 weeks might be gruelling though, and to be honest I don't think a forum is the best medium to play this kind of game -- it's probably best played away from keyboard, around a campfire or in a dedicated game application.

What did you guys enjoy? What sucked about the game? What would you like to be seen made differently?

The day to day progression. In the rather boring day to day slur it gave an exciting tint to it. =)

Personally I think making the game longer and adding more people will make the game better and as it only takes a couple minutes a day to particiapate. Also I think that more frequent point resets and longer pairings will prevent players who get 5 points the first day of a pairing from pretty much screwing over their partner for there is no fear of reprisal currently at least from that partner.

I'm not so sure about actually sucking, but after the first days the lead the top players had was unattainable to the lowest which made it difficult for us.

No point reset,

A point reset after every week. Also, tell us what we're charged with every new week

I'd like to add Luna to my "What sucked" list please? x'D

I suppose my grudge to the point reset was because if it wasn't ensued I would've won since I had counted on the fact that an early advantage would've led me to victory in the end. And it was unannounced in the sign up which is something I usually don't enjoy. Make the rules and hinkies clear at the beginning of the game or make it clear that rules and hinkies may change during the game.

I agree it came a bit out of nowhere, but without it there wouldn't have been any point in the last week.

I've got no problem with the points reset, my only gripe was in the way the tiebreak was resolved - because I was partnered with someone with a higher running score, the odds were heavily stacked against me surviving the final week. But then I would, considering it screwed me over :) .
