Re: Teclis
Oh come now. Teclis is suppose to compensate for "inferior" combat troops? At the moment I'm playing with Warriors, Empire, and Asrai. I'll take a unit of 9 point per Spearmen or (LSG for versatility) against an equvilant amount of Warriors, Swordmen, or Eternal Guard ( who cost 12pt per) ...

Re: Teclis
Somebody has to be the best magic-user in the game and it's the Asur's goof luck it's Teclis. It should be a Slann imo but that would be splitting very fine hairs  People's problem with Teclis is A) he's a Special Character, or should we be saying a Named Character. Either way the concept's...

Re: Teclis
My God are you kidding me one guy defending Mr.T has the board name is "Teclis Smash" #-o =D> One arguement very intelligently tries to point out the cost differential by comparing Teclis to a AM build with similiar items and still the fanboys won't budge. Veteran members even...

Re: Teclis
True true Teclis has always been bofo but now it's well . . . what more needs to be added to what's been said already? Today's Teclis is yesterday's Thorek. Fact is our local Dwarf player would never use T-horek. He knew it was ridiculous, and while Teclis isn't quite so blatant, it's a near thing. ...

a unit of slaves, 10 wide 18 deep you take 30 attacks , , , Now the real problem is that unit of slaves (180 of them) only costs 360 points, your WL cost about 500.   All love brother. :D I just couldn't help it my man. Re: How do we manage Hellcannons?
Don't know how you guys play out there, but frankly, when someone brings dual hellcannons to a friendly game, just break out BoH and educate him on his poor decision. He's clearly not bringing a friendly list with those, so... you shouldn't have to either. That's pretty funny considering 19 out 20 ...

Re: ....Have we gone top tier?
Its really hard to say. Lizards and warriors look better because have little to none weaknesses, and both dominate the magic phase as well as we do but don't rely on it and have troops geared for combat. With all due respect I heartily disagree. Whining about T3 aside, the Asur, point for point, ha...

Re: Symmetry in army deployment.
Nothing wrong with redundancy while developing a solid military plan. Your "creative" types will call it boring or cookie cutter or something equally goofy. Admitted redundancy doesn't necessarilly have to be symetrically balanced, but if you find a set of models you like because they look...

PG 111 Top left cornor under BOLT THROWERS "Bolt throwers are huge crossbows that shoot a spear-sized missile. A crew of TWO or more is required to wind back the powerful torsion arms and position the huge bolt ready for firing." You need two crew to fire a bolt thrower. If the bolt throw...

Itr's not much but when possible park your chariot perpendicular to the cannon. It will improve the chance of a bounce. Kind of the reverse of creating a norrow profile to reduce the chance of being hit.

Re: 100pts of waste - RBT's
More over-interprettation of the rules I think. Counter-intuitive as it might sound, Yellow Commissar has it right. The fluff about bolt throwers doesnt effect how the warmachine rules apply when it takes wounds. "The crew are only used to indicate the remaining number of Wounds and the number ...

Well it's nice to see there's opinions on both sides of the fence :) Personally I think it's too expensive for Glade Guard, but I think it's perfect for Lothern Sea Guard. Lothern Sea Guard and the Razor Banner
Lothern Sea Guard and the Razor Banner would seem to be a beautiful union. It's cost plus the BSB wouldn't make it a cheap unit but very synergetic. That is if you believed the AP would apply to both the bows and the spears. There's some discussion of the matter on Asrai.org. and some members believ...

Alternative Asur Models
I use to shop online quite a bit and found the following models at theWarstore. http://www.thewarstore.com/KingsofWarElves.html I would have started an Asur army 6 years ago if the Core models had come even close to the Asrai's Glade Guard and Dryads. I'm still not even slightly excited by the Asur ...

Also, I cannot stress enough how much the scenarios will change how you approach the game. Things like assaulting a building are going to be common occurances now. If your LGS chooses to play straight out of the book, you are going to have to adapt on the fly all the time. I can only hope so. I str...

Don't forget the Dawi don't get to add a Spellcasters level to their dispel attempts. That could add up to quite alot of equivilant dispel dice

I never found T3 5+ save Elves being cheesy. Me neither. But the S5 ASF reroll would be. For 12pts Personally don't care since I'm looking to swap Empire for Asur anyway. Still I hope I'd feel a little off about fielding SM and WL that would eat Khorne Warriors with Halberds for breakfast . . . for...

Magic has always been an iffy proposition verus Dawi if they were ready for such an opponent. As it should be. I'd suggest you find a way to make your Dragons work and concentrate on Bolt Throwers as your anti-artillery pieces.

I'm really hoping for a new spearmen/lothern sea guard box set (should be in the new starter set for 8th).
