Re: Ptolemy: Back from Unplugged GT with a pair of awards!

I think he means you paint clean in a bit of a comic style, use colours that go well with blue and are mostly on the "cold" side of the colour circle and that you spent good time and effort on your bases. Works like a charm and you really did one hell of a job too! Keep it up, I really lik...

Re: (WIP) High Elf Army

It's not too bad for someone starting with the hobby. What you might notice with your models is that there are clutters of paint in the layers. Judging by the results I think you are painting straight from the paint pots. This is not bad if your current results are something you are happy with. If y...

Re: Minis for Eagle-riding Nobles?

The skycutter eagle is perfect for this - it has a flat back surface which you can put a standing model onto very easily; possibly a crew from the skycutter which have excellent non-static poses or possibly a sister-based conversion. I'm gonna do that with mine at some point and I think I saw someo...

Re: The most overpowered HE Tourney List. IT"S NOT EVEN FUN

In this list I would go max out on the shooting. Drop the helms for 3x12 archers, fill your rareslot with 2x6 sisters, 2x rbt, a great eagle and a frostheart (2400 pts right?). I would also try to squeeze in a reaver bow/pot of strength noble (possibly on an eagle). Reduce the lions to 40 max size (...

I assembled and painted all 20 phoenix guard at once, assembly line style. Who cares about the insides of the cloaks, stuff your brush in there with your shade colour and leave it at that. It's not like anyone is going to see it.

Re: Sarcon's pointy-eared pan... errr... Elves! - GT 2013

Hey Sarcon On the wetblending, how many layers would you normally do on your greens to achieve that effect? Hey Rogier, It's fairly easy. It's one base layer of Lothern green, shaded with nuln oil. After that I see how useful the shade is. Smaller areas usually only need one highlight that I feathe...

Those magnetic sheets look great...I resorted to blu-tac between my models and the movement trays haha :) I quite like the GW MT kit, just a pain to fit the ranks in at times if you've got basing materials in the way! I had 1mm galvanized steel plate cut to the measurements of my movement trays and...

Hey Sarcon! Checking out your wet blending as I said I would. I really like it and it's especially evident how nice the effect can be on your IOB Mage, the Prince Altharan on foot unit filler and your Phoenix guard. I can see that there is a difference in our styles, you have a limited palate as I ...

Have you ever tried wet blending your layers on your cloaks? It makes them look an lot more natural and organic. Your cloak is very well painted, but the extreme highlights look a bit odd to me.

So, a few days after the Dutch GT I took out the army for a few quick shots. It's a shame the shields for my silverhelm bus and characters didn't get in in time. My army consisted of: -Mounted Prince -Mounted Life lvl 4 -Noble BSB -Caradryan on Astari -2x10 Archers with Music -12 Silverhelms, FC -5 ...

Re: 2400 Elf Tourney list

You know Shield of the Merwyrm doens't work on a mounted character? Swap it for a charmed shield or something. It may be a clever idea to use units of 6 reavers with a champ to deal with challengers, otherwise your dragon will be toast. I'm also not entirely sure what the Seaguard are supposed to do...

The earthy tones look fantastic. How did you achieve the smooth colour transitions on the cloak highlighting? Mine always look too stark :/ Build up your highlights, I think I paint like 4 layers on the cloaks (Base, shade, 4 highlights). It is important to keep your paints thin and to smudge the e...

Charmed Shield
Golden Crown (I dont have my book with me, it's not the same item class as a dawnstone, right?)
Dawnstone
Giant Blade

Not an optimal build, but putting a prince on a chariot will never be optimal.

The PG unit filler with only the pillar on it looks a bit cheap. The surrounding models no longer look like a regiment. Maybe you should add like 2-3 phoenixguard models on the filler to fix this? The basing is really cool by the way, with the tiles!
