Re: The elves and their sexual orientation

Caesar's alleged homosexuality was not why that was an insult; the insult was in making him the 'passive' partner. Homosexuality was not so very taboo in Rome, just read a handful of poems by Catullus for example. The most common statue surviving from antiquity is of the Emperor Hadrian's male lover...

Re: The elves and their sexual orientation

Well elves continue to join evil illegal pleasure cults and in much the same way some could practice homosexuality outside of them (I think it can be taken as read that such things would take place within pleasure worship considering the more extreme activities which are alluded to). Of course we ca...

Re: The elves and their sexual orientation

Looking at elf books in general the Malus darkblade series have a fair bit of sex in them (never particularly graphic but present never the less) and may be the best available source. Granted the series is not considered cannon nor even close to such by many but I have always taken the view that any...

Re: Concerning Dragons

From what I understand Dragons are supposed to be considerably more intelligent than say a dog or a cow but not on the same level as an elf or a human unless there is something odd going on. Certainly they can be broken to the will of another. It has to be remembered that different black library boo...

Re: High Elves of Athel Loren - yes, You read correctly :)

Lotheren Sea guard as sea guard no but the combined nature (archer/spearmen) fits quite well with a colonial theme, limited numbers and resources make this kind of duel usage very appealing. As for shadow warriors the Druchii may have started the WOTB but they did so so that they could invade, I thi...

Re: High Elves of Athel Loren - yes, You read correctly :)

I just wonder how many of the units existed in their current form at the time of the war of the beard, this might well be in the army book but mine is far away. The white tower was built quite early on I think but maybe not prior to the wotb and without a tower were there any sword masters? Also whe...

Re: Who commands the levy?

So the system is essentially feudal and in theory should a province have what it perceived to be good cause you think it is likely that a prince could raise an army against another province or even the king and be able to rely on the levied troops? I know this is all hypothetical but I am interested.

Who commands the levy?

I think the title says it all really; we all know basically how the high elf armies are raised, specialist troops from each province raised recruited and trained in different manners and commanded by and presumably loyal to the prince of the realm/local lord. But what about the levy? I know that it ...

Re: High Elven Women: Why Can't We Fight?

Well the two thrones are somewhat representative of the dual nature of elves; on the one hand dark, primal and warlike, on the other peaceful, in tune with nature and (relatively) good. Obviously this duality permeates all three races. The wood elves have it to an even greater degree as they are bas...

All of this assumes that elves have the same moral codes on the subject of incest as humans do (and not all humans at that, though most throughout history have not been keen on anything closer than cousins/uncles/aunts). I have not read anything saying that they do, but then I have not read all of t...

Hi guys. I'd personally like to see our spears become more elite somehow, perhaps the armor, and maybe some sort of "mid range" monster that other armies field. HE spears already have ASF, fight in three ranks and have de facto hatred due to their high I, how much more elite were you thin...

Re: New Units Ideas

Whilst I think that is a fairly cool idea for a unit it doesn't make much sense in terms of background. The elves were not a very war like people before the invasion of chaos and there are still a few elves alive who can remember that invasion. Five thousand years just is not long enough to be mythi...

Re: Warhammer History

There are plenty of background books but consistency is a problem, not only from edition to edition but also book to book. The Liber Chaotica for example gives a great deal of history and background but not all of it is current due to GW's penchant of re-writing any history they feel like; the conqu...

It is more a matter of probability than possibility. Yes you can transport horses by ship but it is costly, inefficient, damaging to the horses and all around a fairly difficult thing to do. Certainly one would try and avoid bringing horses along on a long voyage. They take up allot of space (severa...
