Re: Enemy of the Month (September) - Warriors of Chaos
Late to this party, but one thing I'd like to point out is that most armies regard the Lore of Tzeench to be the least effective of lores. In fact, it's outright avoided by most. Often times the armies that do take LoT are tailored thusly, with a pseudo L5 wizard (some mechanics give you a 5th spell...

Re: Enemy of the month
a recommendation! next month have an option for Undead Legion or End times Nurgle. Just in case that might be a bit of a bigger match up lately because of those books coming out and ours (RUMORED) to be coming out last.

Re: Strategies against Bretonnia?
honestly brets are pretty easy to put down if they smash into any of our specials- even against your core, we have an upper hand. why? because their charge is not really that effective against ASF. unit of knights smash into a wall of SMs with ASF? going to be a lot of dead knights. if you have razo...

Re: Reworking 2500 pt list
As always, thanks for your replies, gents! The army overall was originally intended to be a cav list as I love cavalry. I also like PGs and phoenixes so I wanted to try and include them- that's why there's such a mismatch of things. I have bad unit ADD with High Elves- I think I've brought this up b...

Re: Reworking 2500 pt list
I believe the BSB needs to be in the Helms. The Prince needs his re-rolls and high strength attacks for grinding. Prince also needs Giant Blade IMHO. I'd go straight to Talisman of Preservation on the Archmage, he needs it to stay alive. Scroll is more important than Book I feel, especially with ch...

Reworking 2500 pt list
Need some help tweaking this list. I'm debating if I want WL in my army or not, but I'm convinced I want me some PG action.. Debating dropping DPs for more Silver helms or something else. Any recommendations would be awesome: Prince dawnstone, ogre blade, enchanted shield Archmage lvl 4, High magic ...

I'd like to second that...
I feel he's a very underwhelmed and written-off Hero choice because of everything that's being mentioned. Curu brings up some very interesting arguments and I'd love to see more if he's up to it? (SAY YES!!)

Re: Cav chaff units - Helms vs Reavers
Ahoy Ignoble! Ggrenic posted a pretty bomb summary of almost every unit in our book taken as a "Chaff" choice. It's a few posts below this one, take a look. It breaks down Silver Helms and Reavers REALLY well as well as the various roles for chaff, and where units rank in those roles: http...

Ah, should have said we're not allowed to post individual points costs for items on the forum so please remove those if you can first. You might also find it more helpful to layout lists in terms of Lords, Heroes, Core, Special, Rare in that order. After that, onto the list! Apologies! All fixed. I...

Re: Assistance Building a List: a Question of Specials
Absolutely. Figured it might be a bit too much to add in with the post. Pretty standard run of the mill while I really develop a play style. Prince w/ Cav Bus Archmage + BSB w/ SMs (SMs have shrieking blade just to add more points to 2500. also, i fight ogres a lot.) Mage w/ Archers (but thinking he...

Re: Assistance Building a List: a Question of Specials
I agree, my current actual list consists of the models i previously only had. I've since purchased a good deal from a friend hence the reworking of my list. My last list was basically me taking all of my models and doing everything I could to reach 2500 pts to start playing games and getting a feel ...

Re: New High Magic - your views?
Having only used the new lore (in game) I can say I actually enjoy it. I provides a lot of utility and works wonders as a supporting lore. If you can place it properly, then the bonuses it provide are amazing. Walk between worlds can help get a block of SMs to combat as early as T2. Apotheosis has a...

This might be something for the army lists forum, but I figure that's more for lists that are made. This is aimed more at opening up the discussion and tactics behind special units. ...Win win! I roll 3 1's. Scoot up a little bit, and don't get to get into cover. During magic phase, I get off Dwellers onto his big knight unit. Miscast. Only kill 3 knights and lose 3 levels and spells. I'm left with Throne of Vines on a level 1. :( Turn 2 - Cannon shoots at Dragon again. hits, ...

Re: Viability of Dragon Princes
I think I just need to get around placing my DPs poorly and actually use them to flank/assist other units.
I'm tinkering with adding a frost phoenix to my list so it'll be an interesting dynamic. I like the look of that 15 bus large dragon prince list! looks INSANE!

Re: High Elves vs. Ogre Kingdom
I play a couple of swordmaster walls just to kill/wound his characters, you let him charge them and slowly kill his lords and heroes. Yes, cavalry, either reavers or silver helms, can outmaneuver and be a nuisance to the chariot war machines. High magic is a good idea to get some ward saves, but lo...

Sorry viability might not have been the best word here.. I just meant more how do people use them typically.. From what I'm gathering though, I'm not using them wrong and their performance is to be expected as far as not being a game changer. They ALMOST feel like glorified chaff as they can't reall...

Re: Viability of Dragon Princes
That's true, but the same could be argued for Swordmasters... Which are admittedly less than viable in MOST concerns as WLs are a bit more killy with more survivability and PGs are way more tanky.

Re: High Elves vs. Ogre Kingdom
Has anyone tried Shadow/Light?
I've been doing Lv 4 Shadow/ Lv2 High and it's been a fun support- I mean I don't really roll that well and the support mage is with archers, so he doesn't get a ton of use from the abilities past T1/T2, but it's still nice to have the ward save.

Re: Life magic vs High magic
Being able to buff a units ward save is huge as that makes them even more tanky. i.e. it'll increase the ward save innate in PGs or SMs. I keep a high mage with SMs sometimes, and they can get a 4++ ward save against shooting, and a 5++ against everything else because of that shield which is just da...

Re: Killing Nagash
I squared off against Naggy this past weekend... I had the benefit of my opponent not having any undead models to actually summon up, so I didn't have to deal with it. Coupled with low winds of magic, I was able to actually shut down a lot of his casting as well. I managed to get 3 wounds off in my ...

Yeah we both are really new with the newest edition of rules, so we kind of just stumble about, blundering here and there. Especially with the spears hah. Re: High Elves vs. Ogre Kingdom
Update: I played my ogre nemesis this past weekend. It went well! I took a lot of pointers from using chaff properly and that REALLY helped. Viability of Dragon Princes
So since I've been back, I couldn't wait to get some DPs. I love the models, I love the fluff; they were one of the initial models that got me into High Elves back in the day with those beautiful metal static poses. Honestly, If you want a Prince on a Griffon, just take Eltharion. He has a slightly better stat line, a +2 str weapon that ignores armor, a nice Griffon, AND he's a lvl 2 mage.
