Re: The Perfect Body Shape is Spherical: On Dwarven Sense of Beauty
Pagan deities and mythological creatures are aspects of nature, legends and fairy tales coded lessons in nature, history and other subjects, not to be taken too literally. Dwarves specifically are representative of the baser instincts. For more on the subject, watch some of Varg's videos on Odysee (...

Dragon books
Aside from Anne McCaffrey's Pern saga, Christopher Rowley's Basil Broketail , assorted Dragonlance installments, quite openly plagiaristic stuff like Eragon or kid's books like How to train your Dragon , do you know of any other books and/or series that feature Dragons, including Dragons as protagon...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
You would think that after 9 editions spanning 40 years (!), they might have gotten it right...... But that's not really the point, is it ? The point is to $€££ new stuff to (mostly) new players every 4 years or so. The 'flaws' of the game aren't bugs, the are features....... As far as I'm concerned...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I mean, sure, I also agree somewhat. I think there are a lot of topics that could be considered a little, somewhat or overly, gamey in the current rules. Naval Disciplining out of charge range, a few things come to mind. Bringing a Dragon to a 1250 pts game is an ass move, but you can. I think play...

Re: LOTS of Archers ?
That's where Linehammer comes in. Assuming a table relatively clear of terrain - see 'wide units', above - maybe even a friendly hill on the Elf side, you just might deploy all those Arrow Boys in 1 unit stretching pretty much from board edge to board edge. Charge them ? Come at me, bro. Let's see h...

LOTS of Archers ?
The Linehammer debate has rekindled my interest in something I've been kicking around for quite a while but have never actually tried, and that is fielding a TON of Archers - like 100 in a 2000 point game, which would make them over half the army. Not all in one unit, of course, even Linehammer tabl...

Re: Speculating/Wish listing on the High Elf Arcane Journal
I could totally get on board (...) with a naval-themed Elf list, Cothique is often overlooked. That's where the Sea Elves disappeared to who were still mentioned once in a while prior to 4th edition. I just snapped up some of the last remaining boxes of Oathmark Elves, they have just the right look ...

Terrain does, of course, cease to be a problem if you do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo5_WTlgVlo

No room on the table
Watching several more battle reports on TheirTube, I have noticed that the guys at Mountain Miniatures - among others- have been using less and less terrain. Could it be that this is because of the 25% increase in base size, units are quite literally getting stuck between hills and woods ? Linehamme...

Re: From which province does your Army/Character hail?
I voted Yvresse because that is where I'm starting...kind of..... The cover art of the 4th edition box set is still one of the most impressive and iconic fantasy paintings I know and I wanted to kick off my High Elf painting adventure by making the 20 Spearmen and 20 Archers that came in it look as ...

I found this one: https://www.ecrater.com/p/44528253/high-elf-lothern-skycutter-f152?gps=1&gad_source=5&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgOvkmrC8hAMVDDfUAR1RmAgAEAQYASABEgKIrvD_BwE Price is reasonable, comparable to plastic kits of tanks, planes, dinosaurs and such and the recast of the Empire Steam Tank I...

Learning Elvish
I've always been very interested in languages and what we hear of Quenya or Sindarin in Peter Jackson's version of LotR sounds nice, have any of you ever tried to learn Elvish (any variety), how did it go and which books dfid you use ?

Re: Babylon Scenes From Movie Intolerance (1916)
Many old movies - from the very beginnings in the 1910s to the 1980s - can be found here: www.rarefilmsandmore.com The bulk are from Germany, but they also have plenty of others, some are subtitled. They are technically region 0, but play better the older your DVD player is - because lasers were mor...

Re: Alternatives to eBay for WHFB miniatures?
I got a queasy feeling when I started seeing the first UPC's appear on the books and records I was buying in the early 70s. I was just a kid, so I just thought they were ugly, not realizing how sinister they would turn out to be. I tend to think the internet was created as a trap fronm the very begi...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
Well, something like a 'spell & flee' tactic would be highly appropriate and totally in character for Goblin Shamen or Skaven Seers. For artificially 'squishy' armies such as Elves, it just makes good tactical sense. If you're playing Wood Elves, you pretty much have to play like that to have an...

Re: Alternative High Elf miniatures - a near and dear subject
I'm going to list some of my personal favorite High Elf figures, how useful they are for Warhammer varies: I still think Ral Partha made some of the prettiest, most iconic fantasy miniatures ever produced, their Elves being a particular favorite. Hard to find and rather tiny next to big&chunky C...

Re: Lothern Sky Cutter
How does a unit on the ground hide a unit in the air from sight ? Oh, that's right, flyers have to land after each move.... Which makes no sense at all, if you have that advantage, why surrender it ? If I was the Roc, I'd certainly rather remain airborne throughout the battle, I'm sure the two guys ...

Never having played 7th or 8th edition - nor that other game, what was it called again..... I forget......- this model is new to me. Looks very fragile, I guess it's a good thing it's plastic and not resin or, worse, a 3D print, in which case it would need a warning sign like PORCELAIN -DON'T TOUCH ...

Re: All cavalry army ?
Well, something that has always bothered me, especially when it comes to Elves is the HUGE discrepancy between lore and game. If we go by background, fluff, novels, RPGs, comics, movies etc. Elves are basically immortal, vastly more skilled at just about everything than everyone else besides maybe D...

All cavalry army ?
I am new to High Elves, started with Lizardmen, then Bretonnians, then Night Goblins in 5th ed., played Beastmen in 6th, then my gaming group fell apart and many other things took precedence. When I first heard of the rebirth of the Warhammer world, I considered playing either Empire or Wood Elves, ...
