Re: Random unit filler
Great concept and model. The only thing might be to make sure it doesn't look like "The Phoenix King is a bit ill", perhaps add a Phoenix Guard about to put a shroud over him, or his Cloak of Feathers?

I like the unit a lot. If that's your table-top standard, you'll not go far wrong.

Re: Escalation League - Skaven
I ran him differently in each game, as it wasn't for the league. Against the Dwarfs he got a shield, Warpstone Armour and a Dawnstone. So he started with 8 St4 attacks and any of my saves I made (with rerolls) inflicted another St4 hit. It was pretty successful as a build, as my opponent tried to bl...

Re: Escalation League - Skaven
Iron-Tooth felt the deadweight lift from his chest and blinked as the sunlight hit his eyes. The flash of green and sweet stench of warpstone told him he was looking at Wyrdeye, even before the old rat came into focus. "Hiding? Good, good.....Iron-Tooth is wise. Many dead though, yes yes. Will...

Re: Witchfate Tor Tower of Sorcery converion ideas?
No, just used to convert lots of scenery "back in the day" (when metal models were less than a pound each and there were nowt round 'ere but fields). My thought is that the easiest concept to work to is that it's an ancient Elven tower, long abandoned and taken over by less than savoury ch...

Re: Witchfate Tor Tower of Sorcery converion ideas?
It's a difficult one to 'Elfify', but I'd start with two basic steps. I'd make a ruined pointy roof for it and put some sections of smooth greenstuff on the outer walls to be painted as alabaster. The idea would be that it's a ruined Elven tower that has lost the facing from its ancient stonework. I...

Re: Escalation League - Skaven
Yeah, the 3 wounds, toughness 4 and no save bit bothers me; but Rat Ogres are just such a great Warhammer unit. I also love the idea of a Warlord riding a Bonebreaker. Frenzy is always a double-edged sword, especially for a unit like Rat Ogres, which you want to be able to control the charge of. Add...

Re: Escalation League - Skaven
Cheers for the response, R.E. I basically included what I did in the 500 points so I wouldn't have to buy anything, along with what I thought might have a bit of character. I had a look at my 'evil' bits boxes and tried to come up with a back story for what I found in there. Out of interest, are Rat...

Escalation League - Skaven
Bit "Off Topic" for a High Elf forum, but hey. My High Elf army isn't going to see the table top for a good while, due to the amount of converting that is involved, so I was playing with the idea of just painting up an army to play with in the mean time, for practice painting and playing. ...

Re: Reboxing of Silver helms?
I wouldn't be shocked if they released new models, as they're a very old set and not the best looking kit on the block, but I've not seen them on the release list. If they were going to redo the Silvers though, you'd have to expect they'd also release new Spears and Archers, as those are some of the...

Balance isn't everything. Why would the tail of a horse be red when the rest isn't? If you want a streak of red to balance the composition, you may consider adding a streaming cloak.

Re: Caledor Army Blog - Bits Needed
Hi jwg20, Yeah, I usually use bits sites every so often too, but there are issues with them these days. Being based in the UK, the international shipping rate from America has doubled and the UK bits sites rarely restock items. Added to all that is GW's continuing attempts to shut down companies tha...

It's personal taste, as are all the colours for your army. I'm considering black, lacquered armour on one of my units - and if I think it'll look right then that's what they'll get.
They're your models and it's your army - do whatever you like.

I like them a lot, but have you considered a darkish wash on sections to give them a 'grubby' feel? They're a little too clean, if anything.

Do you already play 40k, by any chance? I love the 40k-style bases, and it fits with the idea of a crumbling Elven city. The theme looks set up for some kind of expedition to an old outpost to reclaim a lost object of great power etc etc Could be a really great themed army, based around a Lothern ex...

Gildalur had been the Dragontamer's right hand in the fight against Chaos, sacrificing his life to defend his lo...

Nice to see some of the old plastics getting a run out and such a great paint job.
Ah, the good old days, when carbon-copy high elves would face across the board at Goblins with spears so sharp you were guaranteed to stab yourself at least 3-4 times per game.

Re: Reavers? Still old models :-(
As has been said previously, make your own. I don't think any will be released in the near future (guess) as it wouldn't be a financially strong launch for GW. Most people field small numbers and thus their needs will have been fulfilled by the IOB box. I'm making my own as we speak, sat on the floo...

Well, we shall see a about painted models. I've undercoat on my first Red Cloak, but I'm still waiting for parts for my Praetorian Cavalry and Praetorian Foot. I am currently in need of parts for various projects though, so as a general appeal I'm prepared to buy or trade for the following: Phoenix ...
