I like to prime black, then basecoat the cloaks with two thin layers of either celestra grey, ceremite white, or whatever other base colour you like, and it'll cover up the black very well.

The ships from dreadfleet look pretty cool and can usually be found on ebay for around $10-20 each.

Hey Seredain, love the blog and army style.

Quick question, how did you finagle the pose of seredain? Is it a unit champ of some kind? I like the sword arm, but can't find it anywhere in my bits.

I like High to give the archmage and dragon a ward save personally, and I think it's got great potential for the short ranged spells because of fly.

Also, walk between worlds is AMAZING.

I would still run Caradryan on Ashtari instead of the dragon mage.

4+ ward save and magic resistance (1) as well as D3 wounds flaming attacks, ashtari has 5 attacks at WS, S, T better than a sun dragon.

Why are RBTs a wash again? You can take 4 for rares for a mere 280 points. In a single round of shooting, that's 24 S4 AP shots. As said earlier, if you can strip regen, Archers ruin troll's day really well. You can go book of hoeth, crown of command, golden crown, dragonhelm. He won't be crazy durable, but he should be fine. To get the benefit of rank bonus yes, but with army wide fight in an extra rank, Silver helms can fight in 3x3 and still get all of their attacks. I like running 5-6 sometimes 2 wide 3 deep, makes a pretty nice cavalry missile for 5-6 S5 ASF rerolling attacks, good for character sniping, chaff units...

Eltharion is marginally better now that his fangsword gives +2 strength all the time instead of just on the charge. Aside from a situation where it gets removed, I'm sure the lance and longbow are just leftovers for fluff reasons, as his fangsword does a lance's job in prolonged combat and is magical.

Against such a unit of knights and characters, 4 bolt throwers should do GREASY things to him.

Alternatively, if he takes steam tanks as well, shoot the stanks, and tie up the knights with your own knights or a frost phoenix.

What size game, points wise, was this? Sounds fairly low, and HE don't really excel all that well below 1500.

Where are you getting 54 attacks from?

At 6 wide you get 18 plus 6 stomps, the third rank can't support either.

At 18 wide you get a total of 54, but no extra 6 stomps.

Hiding behind other units so you can't be charged, charging over other units, ability to fly over terrain instead of around it, 3 crew instead of 2, 2 eagle attacks at WS5 S4 I4 instead of 2 at ws3 s3 i4, 4+ armor save instead of 5+.

That's a lot for 25 points, unless you like units of chariots :S

I believe you mean the Blade of Leaping Gold, that is in our own army book, because the gold sigil is either the ASF or I10 sword in the BRB. It is a devastating combo, reminiscent of vampire lords with red fury and quickblood, but you pay so much for those attacks and one of them has a rather abysm...
