Thinking of selling my minis
I'm trying to gauge what kind of return I could get for them. I have a high elf army with models 4th-8th edition. I also have an assortment of other models (the 7th edition starter game). Some are badly painted from awhile ago, some just primed. There are also some really old minis from Necromunda a...

Re: The Ninth Age
This topic is all over multiple forums. I think the change to dragon princes is not the same as the GW arms race because it is based on many years of observing lists. The problem with dragon princes, as with swordmasters, is one of internal balance (one that a MSU style covers up a bit, although a t...

Re: The Ninth Age
It looks like at the moment the High Magic lore attribute is exactly the same for HE, WE and LM. I am not sure why they decided to do so. I tried to check relevant topic at TWF but despite the fact some players asked about it there is no answer to that yet. I think it is not necessary change and I ...

Re: The Ninth Age
I've taken it on myself to defend the Asur in the 9th Age forum against some of the nonsense in the High Elf thread and elsewhere. I think 9th Age is relevant because of the slavish devotion many have to comp systems; if people can all agree to play under a comp system, an updated ruleset designed b...

Re: Banner army for conversion
Hand-made from paper, it seems. I found the following question and answer buried near the bottom of that thread. Inspiring stuff! Q: "How did you do the banners on the Tiranoc chariots?" A: "Good old fashioned paper, oddly enough. The chariot banners are relatively thin paper, folded...

Re: Banner army for conversion
Looks like a self-made flag to me. Banner top is from the old White Lions of course, my BSB incorporates it too. Poster is Joe Sturge, formerly of the Dragon Slayers club (and GW). Used to be one of the best players in the UK. I have one of those white lion bits too, Do you think the arm is self-ma...

Banner army for conversion
I'm looking to convert my BSB as was done in this link (one of the best high elf armies I've ever seen) http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39121 Problem is, I can't figure out what arm to use, and whether there is an appropriate banner or if he made it himself from scratch. That p...

Re: Magnetizing bases
For plastic minis I just use "magnet tape". At least I think that's what it's called. It comes in a roll, and it's just a big long magnet strip that you cut to the size you need. What I actually use is the same stuff, but I got it out of the seal on old refrigerator doors back when I work...

I just looked them up on Ebay, and it seems they're metal themselves and circular. How do you get weld them to square bases?John Rainbow wrote:I use K&J magnets (rare earth types) that I got from eBay. I then put a thin steel sheet in all of my movement trays to attach them too.

Magnetizing bases
I'm looking to add magnets to my high elf army bases (old square bases, no AoS). I've been looking around and unsure of what to buy. What are good types/brands of magnetic material to glue (?) to my bases?

Re: Expectations to a 9th ed - new rumours from Warseer adde
I started high elves because of their fluff, and primarily because of their genesis from the lotr high elves which inspired my imagination like no other thing in fiction has before or since. I remember reading the high elf army book for the first time as a child and literally shaking with excitemen...

Re: New High Magic - your views?
I think the lore is decent. It's strong from early-mid game but suffers late game because it doesn't have anything that swings battles as much as the other lores. Only if you haven't set things up well earlier. It strikes me that the potential of High Magic is maximized by superior planning+executi...

I totally get where you're coming from as far as sharing something with others and savoring their response, helping them fill in the blanks etc. It is a very nice thing. Interesting that you mentioned The Hound, he was excellently portrayed. I have a question for you on that front: Did you think the...

Re: Campaign of the end of times Rumors (only rumors)
Warhammer universe has already been on the brink ever since I became involved in the mid 90's. There is only so much they can darken it, it is already turned up to 11. I really hope, as far as the background goes at least, that this is just a campaign supplement and nothing more. I'm actually please...

Re: Games of thrones season 4
I have seen every episode a few times but I was loathe to start watching them. My missus, knowing I loved the books thought it was a good idea to get me the first season on Blu Ray for Christmas a while back so I "grudgingly" gave them a try. Only took a couple of episodes to get me hooke...

Re: Campaign of the end of times Rumors (only rumors)
Ah, "Grimdark", that was the description I was forgetting. Very much in keeping with the habits of the WHF background writers. I haven't read any of the novels commonly described as Grimdark, but it seems to me that it is less about good storytelling and more about proving how Badass UberH...

Re: Games of thrones season 4
There were still some of the same problems the show has always had, but overall season 4 was a big jump forward in quality. Adapting the next books will, apparently, be an entirely different challenge. I think it might do the show well to have so much material to fit in from the novels that the show...

Re: Campaign of the end of times Rumors (only rumors)
I see what you are trying to say and in general I agree with you, I also think that GWs willingness to destroy nations and the foggy parts of their background is inherently detrimental to the setting as it makes the warhammer world less rich. However i strongly disagree with your view on Teclis and...

Re: Campaign of the end of times Rumors (only rumors)
This all sounds kind of like a compounding of the problems with Warhammer background to begin with. The instinct is to make everything super dark in a way which isn't powerful or compelling, but instead cartoonish. Maybe less than some of the stories in Storm of Chaos, but in some ways more and bigg...

Re: Let's talk about the Lore of Light
What really interests me in this topic is the question of whether Light is best as a support for a monster-led army. I've been thinking about what would be best to protect/boost my star dragon lord. I've leaned toward L2 High and L2 Beasts, but 2 L2's on Light would be very interesting as well. Why...

Re: How much better is the new Wood Elf book than the last one?
Gotta ask what youre smokin and where I can buy it Furion lol I think alot of it has to do with the +1 to cast in a wood. This is a strong rule due to it affecting potentially every wizard with any lore, but you'll end up losing it at some point when your opponent tries to smoke you out. My problem...

Re: New Wood Elves: What they're missing
I thought a time for wishlisting was before a book was released? It is irrelevant when one wishlists  These ideas were merely me thinking out loud. The internal balance of the book is pretty damn good IMO I haven't played with them but this at least on paper looks really not true to me. Looks...

New Wood Elves: What they're missing
I was one of those pretty underwhelmed by the Wood Elves, they've lost a good chunk of their identity and the list appears to lack internal balance and much in the way of combat ability. These are just some ideas I had, no points cost ideas. These are meant to be added to the new book, not predate/r...

Re: Wood Elves Rumours/Speculation?
Wild Riders is the main thing to depend on, they'll hit really hard and there isn't alot in this book that can fight. If I had my choice of models, I would take maybe 3 units of 6, or combine two of them and put in a hero with the Moonstone.

Re: How much better is the new Wood Elf book than the last one?
Do not get me wrong - I am not complaining I am just stating an obvious fact - DE are overall stronger than the HE and their results in the uncomped tournaments prove it. Also, the severity of their restrictions compared to the HE restrictions in comped tournaments is another point of proof of my s...
